How to go about regaining limbs
« on: June 28, 2012, 01:00:55 PM »
So in the current campaign my character was caught in a trap room and lost his right arm (weapon arm) to the elbow. My character is a human necropolitan cloistered cleric 5. Any way to get my arm back. I currently have 2 commanded wights and 1 animated skeleton. Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated.

Get a graft. Why get your old arm back when you can instead get a new and improved one? :D

If you really just want your original back, though:

1) Polymorph into a living creature
2) Have someone cast Regenerate on you

The PHB has the spell "regenerate".  Grows back lost limbs.  An argument could be made that it doesn't work on undead (fortitude negates), but I think you can get around this.  Pay to have it cast on you.

The module "Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil" has a machine that attaches demon limbs to you.  It's a bit random, so it might not replace the limb you want, but you can try try again  :smirk

You can get a graft.  I forget what book they're in.

I hear Vecna keeps losing body parts.  Get his right arm :)

The target line says "1 living creature". That's why I suggested Polymorph first. It changes your type from undead to whatever you turn into.

Polymorph also only affects living creatures.

:shakefist WTH... I guess you'd have to use PaO, then.

So it seems as a 5th lvl Cleric I am rather screwed unless I get a graft. Now to look at the list. I looked through the list and nothing was that special for the lower costing ones I could afford. Thank you for the help. The DM did hint that there might be ways in the game to get it back but I was trying to see if I could figure out another way.

Hah, you could just chalk it up to one of the disadvantages of being undead. It can't be perfect sailing all the time. (Echoes of Death Becomes Her..)

Ack!  I even reread the spell before posting to see if it would work on undead.  Missed my roll on that one.

OTOH, I think there's a spell in the spell compendium that turns an undead into a living creature, and so regenerate would work.  (Spark of Life, SC-196)

An arm of nyr (Defenders of the Faith) replaces a lost arm and give +2 untyped bonuses to both str and dex, but 12,800 gp is expensive for 5th level.

Cast an Extended and/or Persisted Girallon's Blessing.  It gives +2 arms / hands, so you'll end up with 3.  It is a 3rd level spell I believe.
