Salutations!
« on: July 09, 2012, 01:18:46 PM »
Greetings all! Long time lurker, occasional poster, I came by to give dman11235 my Avatar D20 documents from several years ago and maybe start helping out on that project again. My name is Christopher Dugan, I live in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States of America and most of my online handles are “dugancm” or “vermithrx” so feel free to look me up.

Favorite games I’ve played:
  • Computer: Portal, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (and sequel, modded heavily), Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft, Ascension, Spore, Master of Orion, Quake
  • Roleplaying: MegaParanoia (LARP at Origins Game Fair), Avatar D20, D&D 3.X
  • Assorted: Iron Dragon (fantasy railbuilding boardgame), The Great Dalmuti (social card game)
Interested in trying:
Burning Wheel, Freemarket, Mouseguard, After Sunset, and Asymmetric Threat: Frank Trollman’s Cyberpunk Fantasy Heartbreaker (when it’s finished).

Besides gaming I also do some minor costuming and chainmail, and help run monthly meetups for lesswrong.com readers and Center for Applied Rationality (CFAR) donors, volunteers (”guineapigs”) and researchers of southwestern Ohio in Williamsburg.

As of this posting I have abstained from World of Warcraft for 906 days.

Nice to meet you!

The Great Dalmuti (social card game)

First of all, I've met a Chris Dugan in a completely different, non-gaming context in NJ.  Weird.

Second, tGD is up there with Once Upon a Time with my all-time favorite card games.
I am the assassin of productivity

(member in good standing of the troll-feeders guild)

It's begun — my things have overgrown the previous sig.

I've never been to NJ, but that's not too wierd. There was another Chris Dugan in my grade school growing up, and I've known many more Chris-es besides. Seems to be a popular name among the religious due to its latin meaning.

It sure makes for some hilarious antics if you can gather a bunch of theater, SCA member, roleplayer, and/or medieval history enthusiast friends together with some silly hats, props, chairs of varying levels of comfort, and snacks around a table to play it. Too bad it's out of print; my father owns the only copy I've ever seen and the cards' artwork does a far better job of priming people with the right mindset than numbers on plain index cards.
