Quote from: DotF
Command: This armor or shield always appears brilliant and gleaming, no matter what the conditions and despite all attempts to paint over or obscure it. Coveted by military leaders of all sorts, this armor or shield carries a powerful aura that gives a +4 competence bonus to Charisma and a +2 morale bonus on Will saves to all allies within 30 feet. The enchantment also makes the possessor very noticeable, giving a –6 penalty on Hide checks. Caster Level: 5th; Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, 5 levels of spellcasting ability; Market Price: +2 bonus.
One I was thinking of.

Quote from: A&E
Command: This armor or shield always appears brilliant and gleaming, no matter what the conditions and despite all attempts to paint over or obscure it. Coveted by military leaders of all sorts, it carries a powerful aura that grants a +4 competence bonus on Charisma-based skill checks and reaction checks(?). Furthermore, all allies within 30 feet of the wearer of the armor or shield get a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. Command armor and command shields make their owners very noticeable, imposing a –6 penalty on Hide checks. Caster Level: 5th; Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, 5 levels of spellcasting ability; Market Price: +2 bonus.
Didn't even know about.

Quote from: SRD
Breastplate of Command
This finely crafted +2 breastplate radiates a powerful aura of magic. When worn, the armor bestows a dignified and commanding aura upon its owner. The wearer gains a +2 competence bonus on all Charisma checks, including turning checks and Charisma-based skill checks. The wearer also gains a +2 competence bonus to his Leadership score. Friendly troops within 360 feet of the user become braver than normal. Since the effect arises in great part from the distinctiveness of the armor, the wearer cannot hide or conceal herself in any way and still have the effect function.
Strong enchantment; CL 15th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, mass charm monster; Price 25,400 gp; Cost 10,975 gp + 850 XP.
Specific Armor, rather than named ability.

Quote from: MiC
Can't quote, but it's Commander, not Command. +2,000gp addon that gives +2 to Diplo and same ally will boost as the rest.
Hey it's not even the same thing. Missed the suffix.

Quote from: FR:DoF, well really realmshelp but same difference
A suit of armor or a shield with this special ability bestows a dignified and commanding aura upon its owner. The wearer gains a +2 competence bonus on all Charisma-based checks. The wearer also gains a +2 competence bonus to his leadership score. Friendly troops within 360 feet of the user become braver than normal (for example, more willing than norml to follow a leader into battle against dangerous foes). Since the effect arises in great part from the distinctiveness of the armor, if the wearer hides or conceals himself in any way, the command effect does not function. Aura: Strong enchantment Caster Level: CL 15th Requirements: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, mass charm monster Price: +3 bonus.

Those are the ones I know of in addition to what others have brought up. So looking at the three main ones.
FR:DoF is +3, and gives +2 to skills, huge aura, and +2 to Leadership.
A&E is +2, gives +4 to skills, +4 reaction (?), aura and hide penalty.
DotF is +2, gives +4 to charisma (by extension, +2 all cha skills), aura, and hide penalty.

A&E's version nerfs the DC aspect I'm after but awards a larger skill bonus and FR:DoF's is way out in left field (but 3.5 material).

Usually it's regarded that the verison in the most recent printing is the "correct" version.

The SRD version seems to cost +3 and an extra 50gp for the hell of it.

Let's go with the DoF version, as the most recent and weirdest.

Sorry, DotF not DoF. Was just sloppy and didn't realize DoF was taken by something else.

Defenders of the Faithful is May 2001 and Arms and Equipment Guide is March 2003 if that makes any difference.
Hmm.

To me? Not really. Newest isn't a rule, in fact per Errata the PHB/DMG/MMI hold priority over virtually anything. Often if something is an intended update, they say so.

But the DM has made his ruling. Now to figure out how to hit 40 without Command...

I was working up a back story and I had a sudden idea that having a pet imp would fit, if I could work it. Two options are open for it (that I can see), a familiar or a cohort. A familiar is going to require level nine, two feats, four skill points, and 100 gold, while a cohort would only require a single feat (assuming Imp monster class is used), and would end with a overall stronger pet.

So, what are your thoughts on leadership, or is there a chance we can reduce the familiar requirements (most likely reducing the imp's base abilities as well)?

Also, what crossover is there between Arcane and Psionics? (Dispel magic, UMD, etc)

If you look here under slavery, you will see that you can get an Imp for a pet for 2k gp.  However, I don't have a problem with Leadership as long as it's not abused.

I generally treat psionics as similar-but-different magic.  ML =/= CL except for certain situations (like an Illumian's Krau sigil).  Dispel Magic+Psionics work both ways, but UMD and UPD are different skills.  That sort of thing.  If you have a specific question then ask.

While mechanically the slaved imp would count as having a pet imp, but the obvoius lack of willingness clashes a bit with my ideas. On to cohort I guess.

Same stat array for cohorts, npc wpl, right?

Looking over my options. I don't think I can hit +40 without Dragon Mag material. I Sad.

So a couple questions regarding some methods I could use if available.

Ability Enhancer (Dragon Comp, p91 & #325, pg unknown) Ok?
It improves ability score changes of Transmutation spells by +2. Particularity, this two feat investment works with Devil's Ego, Eagle's Splendor replacing the previously thought +4 bonus form Command. Exact feat change idk, weight pros and cons currently.

Also, thoughts on Unseeli Fey? Would be willing to work out a lesser version of it so it's not quite so godly. Like maybe no wings, rescaled winter chill (1/2 bonus? less?), iron vulnerability, and feyish ability array or w/e.

Final question. Self cast Animate Dread Warrior (FR:UE) via Scroll & UMD + Undead stuff, like Fell Energy (dragon 312, see ability enhancer but undead only & stacks), desecrate, and so on. Yay or nay?

Is the 40 Charisma really that important?  I think that DC 26 is probably pretty good. :)

As for Sohala and your imp... you better have that imp where a top hat and speak in faux British.  Only way that it will be acceptable. :P

When you say it like that, no.

Mostly liking the Charisma Challenge side of things, keeps me interested while we're waiting to play. Well, I have some more funds to play with now so I should probably polish that area off too >.>

Souleater is ok.  It's only one level until people have access to Death Ward, anyway ;)

All that stuff is fine, SorO.
Quote from: New Homebrew
Lesser Unseelie Fey
This template uses the Unseelie Fey template found in the Dragon Compendium but with the following changes.

Type: Your Type remains the same but you gain the [Augmented] subtype.
Speed: A lesser unseelie fey does not gain wings.
Season's Power (vernal touch): You can use this ability 3 + charisma modifier times per day rather than unlimited.
Season's Power (summer's caress): This ability instead functions like protection from evil rather than magic circle against evil and you gain the ability to project an aura that acts like the magic circle like effect by using a standard action for a number of rounds equal to your HD. If you move while this aura is up the effect ends immediately.
Season's Power (autumn harvest): No changes.
Season's Power (winter's chill): The penalty is -2, this is a Mind-Affecting Fear effect.
Damage Reduction: A lesser unseelie fey does not gain DR.
Iron Vulnerability: As unseelie fey.
Vision: You gain low-light vision.
Abilities: -2 Str, +2 Dex, -2 Con, +2 Cha.
Skills: +4 Racial to Intimidate.
LA: +0.
Basically, pick up the ability mods (has it's own pros & cons), low-light vision (meh), and season's power in exchange for iron vulnerability. Appears much more balanced even through I'm going to break the crap out of winter's chill in a minute. Sound good? May post in home brew if people like the concept.

Not going to follow up with the undead concept right now, probably use it later. Back to tweaking items.

That's pretty awesome, actually, and much closer to worthy of LA +0 (as opposed to the other version).

The Winter's Chill penalty is still too big... Most things that inflict save penalties are at most -2, and for good reason... If you want to inflict a giant penalty on saves, you should have to work like hell for it (like be a blackguard/binder/hexblade, or something).

Edit: Although... since it is a Mind-Affecting Fear affect, there are lots of ways to get around it... Hmm...

In the idea world, probably. But as it stands, two feats and an item are worth up to +6 to DCs and the flavor of who you worship is worth -4 to their Saves which isn't exactly "fair" or requires "work".

I'd hate to lose the Charisma scale, not simply for the sake of trying to break charisma but because I like scaling stuff. Still, I see your point. -2 is fine by me.

I was thinking about making the imp a spelltheif, but all I was able to load on the trickster ACF was:
Quote
You lose:
all but 1d6 sneak attack (you get d6 at L1 and thats it)
2 skill points per level (down to 4+Int)
Trapfinding
Apraise, Bluff, Disable Device, Escape Artist, Hide, Move Silently, Jump, Open Lock, Search, Swim, Tumble

You gain:
Full CL = Spellthief level
Spellcasting advancement as a Bard
Bard or Spellthief spells (ie, all Bard, and Abjuration, Enchantment, Illusion, Transmutation Sorc/Wiz spells).
Due to internet issues I can't confirm this with that issue’s PDF, can I bother one of you kind individuals to do it for me. or post a full text version of the ACF?
