So, I'm taking both Monster Blooded and Monster Hybrid so I can take a monster class and get a size boost next level. However, I'm not sure which monster to go with. There are a lot that prove to be good one level dips, intentional or not. Currently looking at a few but not sure what to go with. I'll probably ask for some advice once I get home from orientation at my new job. :D
Tauric Tarrasque/Choker.  :P Or hell... make the bottom half a dragon, and you can get around the limitation of not being dragontouched till 10th level as a DHA.

Edit: Or how about... a tauric choker/hecatocheires... With 2 levels of the Tauric class, you could gain the 1st level abilities of both monster classes, and then multiclass into Choker 2 (skipping the 1st level, but still gaining its abilities). Heca has the ability to absorb another creature and turn into it via Change Shape, so you wouldn't have to go around looking like a complete freak all the time. :P You could also "consume" that absorbed body to use one of its (Ex) abilities, and you'd get permanent Nondetection and the Outsider type.

So you basically wind up at 3 HD with all the abilities of both choker HD and the 1st heca HD, and have the ability to multiclass more into heca if you want. And it doesn't cost any feats.

Given the odd absorption powers of the Heca, an explanation is also really easy: A heca killed you (a choker) and absorbed it, but for some odd reason, instead of just being consumed as normal, the choker assumed control of the fused being.

So with spellshaping I can do piercing, piercing, slashing, and a mix of cold/fire.  I assume that nobody thinks I'll have too many issues with DR by having piercing twice?   :p

That's an insane concept, though it takes too long to kick off for me right now. Unless I want to put off third level formulas/maneuvers and the DhA's fourth level abilities.

@Nanshork: Not with access to slashing and energy attacks. Plus I believe there's a way to reselect formulae once per encounter or once per day or something, if you run into an emergency.

A part of me feels that I should have bludgeoning, but I make characters all the time that do only one type of damage so I'll just tell that part to shut up.   :p

I shall ask DonQ, as he may want to clarify in the rules once he decides how it was meant to work.  My gut instinct is that DR should apply because otherwise, who cares about what type the damage is if it isn't energy?  But I'll ask.

DonQ is editing the rules to clarify that spellshape attacks are subject to DR.

I figured that's what would happen.   :)

Item questions.

1) Regarding change in size: Do I buy medium items as normal(which would've been adjusted to large size as per the Racial Monster Class FAQ), or since the character is starting at Large Size, just go ahead and buy large sized items? I'm thinking that the rule in the FAQ is more for characters who started play at medium size and reached large size through play & progression.
Yes, I agree.  Buy large items.  Honestly, craft them yourself.  ;)

Heh nah, only craft ranks will be 5 alchemy(by 9th level) for Cultist pre-req.

Quote
2) With Large Size items, only the base price is doubled correct? Masterwork Cost & Special Materials(like mithril, adamantine, etc) costs stay the same? Sorry for the newbie question, first time I've really dealt with large items.

For example. Large Composite Longbow: Base Price: 200 + 300 for Masterwork + 100 for +1 Str to DMG bonus = 600gp

And Mithril Chain Shirt: Base Price: 200 + 1000 for Mithril(Masterwork included) = 1,200gp ?

Let's say that it's base price and special materials, but not masterwork.  So a large mithril chain shirt would cost 2200, but a large composite longbow would cost 700.

Why 700? Str DMG Bonus cost doubled(200 per point of STR DMG, rahter than 100) as well? Aye, agree on special materials as well, after all it'd take more mithril to make a large chain shirt than a medium heh.

Oh and <points to eariler question about poison tactic>  :D
I have no problem milking your own poison, but it loses its efficacy after a number of hours equal to your Con mod.

Probably just reapply ever 3 hours then, 10 or so arrows at a time. :D

First time actually employing poisons on weapons.

QFE for SirP.

Also, how much is the loss in efficiency? RAW states that poison on weapons stay potent until used. But then again most characters don't have access to constant free good poison.

Will it generally be assumed that I reapply every 3 hours, or will I need to state each time? (I know I'll need to state with things like being rushed, time limit to get objectives completed, etc) Heh, one of those things that the player might forget to do but the character definantly wouldn't.

Oh, right.  I guess that part isn't doubled.  So 600gp.

You know what? I was misremembering something.  I was basing it off a Shinomen Naga's poison ability from Oriental Adventures, which I thought lost potency over time.  But it doesn't.  So that's fine, we'll use this directly:

Quote
Poison (Ex): <snip> A naga can use a full-round action
(provoking attacks of opportunity from threatening foes) to apply
a single dose of its natural poison to its weapon, running no risk
of poisoning itself.<snip>

Disclaimer:  Tauric was never aproved (it even isn't on the index) and I don't give any guarantee on its quality, use it at your own risk. It's only on my project thread because it would be just rude to use my mod powers there to erase it. It's completely broken as far I care, but littha refuses to fix its problems and so I simply gave up on it.

To be fair he did ask you if you wanted him to move it to another area.

To be fair, I don't really like the class as written anyway. I liked the idea that it be written up as an alternative feat to Monster Hybrid.

Hmm, I'm kinda sad now. All the equipment I want costs more than I've got access to, so I had to swap out a feat to fit Iron Will in to still qualify for Steadfast Determination. But at least now my breathweapon does a base of 5d6 damage, and I get a full +2 to its reflex save. :D

To be fair I did ask for help fixing it but all I got were snarky replies and told to scrap the whole thing and make a feat.

I will ask a mod to move it to the general homebrew area and that can be the end of it.

I'm going to go ahead and post my critique/suggestion in the class's thread, upon reflection and out of interest in not cluttering this thread.

Ended up writing up my own version to show how I'd approach the issue, but don't want to open the can of worms by posting it in the original's thread, or in the Monster class subforum. Also doesn't solve the issue of giving constructive feedback so that the original creator can rework the original creation.

:/

Well, I've chosen the regular rage instead of whirling frenzy for Crash.  Might as well go all-out offense and see how it handles eh?  Just need to fiddle with skills which won't take long.

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=422369 if anyone wants to look.  While raging he'll have at least +20 to bull rush, +20 to trip, and his damage will be at least +20, so making things dazed is a pretty good possibility.

The only potential problem would be the exoticist fighter doesn't have improved bull rush on its feat list and thus couldn't take shock trooper, but that seems a bit odd for an exotic weapon specialist since they're somewhat exotic maneuvers, or are at least specialized enough that they'd make sense on the list.  If it's too much cheese to essentially give up nothing for something I'll rework it.

Alright, my spellshapes have been picked.  If somebody knowledgeable in spellshaping would look them over and give me some input I'd appreciate it.

I'm still not knowledgeable, but I'll give it a shot.

First thing I notice is that Starlight Vision is a little redundant for most of the party (everyone except you had posted Race, and of those all of them have access to Darkvision), except for being able to see normally in magical darkness (and thus negate the 20% miss chance).

It's not bad, but really most useful if the race you select doesn't have access to Darkvision. If it does, it's a lot less useful, though still fine in some rare situations.

Otherwise, the others look fine. Most of your formulae seem focused on hampering movement/mobility, which is a fine tactic especially if you win initiative or get a surprise round, though keep in mind the ones that might accidentally catch some of us within their radii.
