The more I think about it the more I realize that I don't really want to play an Anchorite, I just did because I felt like the group needs some kind of out of combat healing...

The game is a mid-level game in a high magic setting. Out of combat healing is called "Wand of Lesser Vigor". Failing that, spend a circle selection and two feats on Circle Focus + Spellshape Aura (Natural Balance) as long as you're a spellshaper and don't lose more than 1 full shaper level. Technically, you don't even need access to Natural Balance (the wordings of Circle Focus and Spellshape Aura don't actually require you to know anything of the circle you select), but I think that's an oversight.

I'm sure as hell not going to be able to use wands even if I'm not an Anchorite, so if somebody else is going to be UMD'ing it they should speak up.   :p

Also, if I'm not an Anchorite I'm not taking Natural Balance.  I'm just not a big fan of the circle.

I've got full ranks in UMD and Cha as my main spellshaping stat. If we want to pitch in on a wand or two, I can probably cast from it sufficiently. :)

What, other than Dragonheart Adept, would you play? If it's particularly important to you to play DhA, I could always lose it in favor of something else, though that'll mean hefty rebuilding on my part as well.

No, you go ahead and play the Dragonheart Adept.  I'm happy playing a ranged character.  I've just decided that I'm very meh on the buffing theme that I made myself go after.

I want to go either Elemental Adept or Spellshot Marksman.  I haven't decided which.  I guess I could go Natural Balance with Spellshot Marksman if we need me to for healing purposes.

No input?  Should I just make something and stop worrying about out of combat healing altogether (and hope somebody wants to spend money on wands)?

Don't worry about the out of combat healing, in my opinion. If we all pool in a little gold, we can afford one or two wands easily.

I'm not finding myself terribly impressed with Spellshot Marksman. Sure, it can do a lot of damage, potentially, but it doesn't feel all that impressive overall otherwise. Maybe I just didn't read it correctly, but it seems sort of boring to me. *shrug*

This might not be all that helpful heh, but play whichever you think you'll have the most fun with.
I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hara-Kiri rock! I need scissors! 61!

I know I'll have more fun with the Elemental Adept, I was just wondering if we'd need the damage potential of the Spellshot Marksman.  I'll take that as a no.   :p

We might, not sure.

While it's nice to be concerned about what's best for the group, it's also important to play something you enjoy.

I too often worry about what works best for the group a bit too much.

How much BFC does the group have currently?  I'm contemplating what would become a dedicated BFC spellshaper.

I'm not entirely sure about ranged BFC, but my character is a dungeoncrash tripper with aptitude boomerang daze on a spiked chain.  Considering he does a minimum of 22ish damage on each swing that can go to 30ish with full power attack, chances are the daze will go through, though it doesn't work on undead since it's a fort save.  Bull rushes and trips still have a good chance to work and he can hopefully pick up Shock Trooper next level for the full tactical ubercharger goodness.

Well alright then.   :p

I was contemplating going into this prestige class that focuses on locking down everything within 30' of me.  However, it looks like you've probably got that part covered.

Play what you want. :p  I don't mind if there's overlap, and my character would find the whole tentacle thing amusing and helpful.  Tripped targets are easier to smash after all, and Crash like smash.

I want to play two things that aren't compatible.   :P

I need to investigate things....

Alright Venn, now that I'm playing an Elemental Adept I need to know what circles you're going after.

I've actually been going over the four primary circle choices myself to figure that out. Detereorating Corrosion is starting to look less enticing. It's the most damaging, and there are a lot of decent debuffs, but something is rubbing me the wrong way.

Searing Flame has some good effects like dazing and adding a good amount of damage to melee attacks, but only a couple of us will benefit from that much. I think I'll probably scratch this one off the list.

I like the formulae in Perfect Freeze, it's definitely a contender.

Shocking Current is off the list.

So far it seems to be down to Detereorating Corrosion or Perfect Freeze. Really not sure which to go with right now. :/

Well once you've got it figured out, let me know.  You get first dibs on elemental circles, I'll work with what's left.
