It is amazing how he lived to his age without considering things you shouldn't do with your penis.
Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

Procrastination is the thief of time; Year after year it steals, till all are fled,
And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

Okay, normally I would avoid this story because it's old.  Bradley Manning, the guy who leaked all those sensitive documents to WikiLeaks?  He got convicted?  I don't even care anymore.  Well, I didn't.  Then I saw this headline: Convicted WikiLeaker Manning wants to live as woman.  I think that headline is perfect for this thread, because I definitely said "wtf" when I read it.

I just heard that this morning on NPR.  He was convicted this week and sentenced yesterday(?) and that didn't come out until after he was sentenced.  I honestly think it's some kind of ploy.

hes been Out for some time, but i think the recent revelation is just the lack of media access, the shock value and being a slow news week make it headline material.

Really?  I totally missed it when it came out before, so it was news to me.  It was really odd juxtaposed against the conviction and sentencing, so it read kind of like "Gets sentenced, shouts "I'M A WOMAN NOW!""

And we will hear FAR MORE in the media about his gender issues than we ever did about the revelations of his information leaks.

[Sarcasm]Don't mind the horrors and other issues going on with the government and our foreign policy that Manning made public.  Bradley Manning is a weirdo!![/Sarcasm]

Didn't Manning you know, leak information that put soldiers at risk and stuff?  Stuff that was going to be declassified eventually anyways?  I never read what he leaked (never could see it), so I can't be sure, but I thought the stuff he leaked wasn't anything all that scandalous but could be used against soldiers and stuff by enemy combatants.

he 'may' have leaked potentially damaging information, but what wiki re leaked, so far, was not. (afaik)

There may have been operationally damaging information but I've not heard of any.  Does anyone really doubt that if there was good evidence of Manning's leaks leading to actual harm that it wouldn't be all over the media?

On the other hand without Manning's leaks we would have never new of horrors such as this...

manning got a much fairer trial than i ever expected he would. if anyone is familiar w/ the ucmj, its not really designed for defendants to 'win'. 35 years / alive is amazing, they can kill you for insulting a governor. (at least they could the last time i read it)

Wasn't sure whether to put that here or in the LOL thread, but the news that the US is spying on Brazil, while not surprising, means it goes here.
