At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt - maybe he was talking about Bible Camp (like summer camp, but Christian).  Then I read the rest of the article.  Especially that line about dancing around in their Heathen Zones.   :banghead
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

I couldn't believe it at first, but here's a video of him saying those things.

Well, obviously he's basing it off his instincts, which is what he'd be doing if he was an atheist.
Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

http://www.newslo.com/ted-cruzs-father-suggests-placing-atheists-in-camps/
At least we know where Ted gets his sensibilities from.

Edit: So, it turns out there are buttons at the bottom of the page that I missed (Show Facts/Hide Facts) that show that part of that was satire. Basically, he's on record saying that atheism leads to perversion and hopelessness, but the more extreme parts about camps and face shooting are parody.

Quote
He claimed that the belief systems are two of the main ills facing our society, that they lead to sexual perversion, sexual abuse, and the complete loss of hope, and that people following these two views should be rounded up and placed in special ‘camps’ to keep them separated from the rest of America.
Lets see:
  • sexual perversion - who cares? No one's forcing him into the kinky stuff.
  • sexual abuse - any evidence of that? While the Catholic abuse scandals are far from normal, they are documented...
  • complete loss of hope - as opposed to believing you're part of a plan that doesn't make sense, appears terrible on the surface, and involves no less than two thirds of the population being tortured for eternity? Huh.
  • rounded up and placed in special ‘camps’ - I don't like to Godwin, but really? When has that ever worked out well?
Quote from: person who would rape people if it weren't for God
“If there is no God, then we are ruled by our instincts,” he said. “Of course, this leads us, when there are no moral absolutes, leads us to sexual immorality, leads us to sexual abuse, leads us to perversion and, of course, no hope. No hope!”
I always love when religious people imply (or even blatantly admit sometimes!) that they would be doing terrible things if they didn't believe there was a god. Wow!

Edit: This last part turned out to be parody.

Quote from: this dumb asshole
“While they’re in their Heathen Zones, they’re free to dance naked around the fire, brand the mark of the Devil on their flesh or whatever else they want to do,” he added. “Of course, if they step one foot outside the electrified fence we shoot them between the eyes. Two or three times, just to be sure.”
Shoot the atheists for Jesus. Because he was into that shit.

At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt - maybe he was talking about Bible Camp (like summer camp, but Christian).  Then I read the rest of the article.  Especially that line about dancing around in their Heathen Zones.   :banghead
Or the part about shooting people in the face. Literally. Two or three times "just to be sure".

Also, I don't know where Ted's dad gets off saying that a lack of a belief in God leads to sexual abuse. It's not like the Bible has ever had a good track record on dealing with the issue, or anything:

Deuteronomy 22:23 - 28:

Quote
23 If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, 24 you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.

25 But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, 27 for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed, there was no one to rescue her.

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[c] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

Huh, well this seems like Placebo Effect meets What-is-this-Google-you-speak-of.

The Hybrid Hypothesis A new theory of human origins
TLDR:

"The tentative scenario that I picture is that human beings came into being via hybridization between a pig, whose best modern representative is Sus scrofa, and an ape, best represented today by the pygmy chimpanzee, Pan paniscus."

"The image of a pig mating with an ape is not a pretty one..."

Already been academically debunked and subject of ridicule in the scientific community.

The species are not close enough to interbreed successfully*-my grade ten biology class knew that.

*Unless you far enough back that there weren't "apes" and "pigs" just generic mammals with a few mutations. In which case you may as well say turkeys are a product of a T rex interbreeding with a velociraptor.  :rolleyes
I wouldn't always have to be right if so many people didn't insist on always being wrong.

He attracts crazy people, this is not a surprise.

Yeah but some of his supporters are clamoring for a recall vote due to the mandela post.

You gotta admit that's just damn funny.
