Think Progress isn't exactly an unbiased source. They're pretty much Glenn Beck's blog but without the insanity, and for the left rather than the right and insanity.  And better sourced.  So really not much like Beck's blog at all, but they are a pretty biased source that tends to call anything bad "far right agenda" much like Fox calls anything they don't like "far left agenda"

They tend to regard anything anti-science or pro pseudoscience as far right.  They were just the first people who printed the bit about participants in the documentary being duped.

http://thinkprogress.org/culture/2014/04/08/3424505/kate-mulgrew-duped/   update  :huh
Why is Think Progress calling this a far-right agenda?

Can you go far enough to the right that you fall off the edge of the world?

Uhh ... they seem to think so  :banghead

Google still hasn't enough of your personal information. Altough the most bizarre part may be the one where facebook wanted to do that as well.

It's kinda of sad in the big picture, since altough google makes a quite nice search engine, they end up slowly screwing over every other big project they get their hands on. Biggest offender:youtube. Now with 300% more annoying adds and just 1/3 of the quality!

Your browser has seen the word frequently enough on this site to assume it's a term we invented then.

Ironically, that was made possible by Google.

Amazon sucessfully patents taking photos against a white background

And remember, this is  the kind of patents that are used to fuel  statistic studies to support that the current patent system stimulates innovation.

Damn, sometimes I wonder why anybody bothered to discover fire and metallurgy and agriculture back when you couldn't patent it...

http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2014/05/28/health-insurance-provider-denies-cancer-treatment-premium-mri-scan-tumor-sonoma-county-man-battling-cancer-denied-coverage-by-anthem-blue-cross-after-paying-100k-in-premiums/

A man was denied treatment coverage by insurance after 20 tumors were found in his brain, along with several more in his lungs, liver, and bones.  The reason?  The insurance company said "his hospital stay didn’t meet the criteria for medical necessity."

Bullshit.

Having worked inside a health insurer, what that usually means is the Dr (or rather, his overworked assistant) screwed up the coding on the forms submitted, and it hit some kind of auto reject. It's mostly automated, or was at the place I was at (~90% or more).

Given there are a ridiculous number of codes today, and IDC-10 is going to drop a nuclear holocaust level of them, it's going to be interesting to watch from the sidelines. Doctors aren't going to have a hope in hell of getting them right, and insurance companies aren't ready to deal with the 150,000 new codes. Idiotic bureaucracy and healthcare, yay!  :banghead

its totally possible for the chemo bit to be a typo, or a default setting to auto reject the first request.

hopefully her cancer center people dont make these typos often...

Oh yeah, that one's burning up the twit-sfere.

It reminds me of the first movie Kate Winslet did,
called Heavenly Creatures and based on the
Parker-Hulme murder case.

My initial reaction to the pic of the girls,
is the one has a mighty peculiar hair-do.
Like there might be more going on (or wrong)
with her than run-of-the-mill fantasy confusion.
