My favorite for melee is Bloodstriker Dinosaur (MM3), since the spell lets you pick up Caustic Blood and Spiked Skin. Every time something tries to hit you with a melee attack (although reach weapons bypass as normal), they take damage, and then they take even more if they actually do deal damage to you.
