Anyone playing Guild Wars 2? Any reviews?

It is really really good fun to play for about 200 or so hours but gets a bit dull after that. That said it has no subscription fee so I will probably go back at some point

I was roaming about the forums and the complains about FPS makes a very worrying reason to not buy the game. Furthermore I'm using NVidia and AMD cores, which they claim are both the worse for this game.

Did you face FPS issues?

I have an Nvidia card with an AMD core and have no FPS issues at all... that said I have a Phenom II x6 1100T Black edition (overclocked to 3.6 ghz) and 16 gig of high speed gaming RAM so I am possibly not the best person to ask.

This is what I have:

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.120503-2030)
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8150 Eight-Core Processor            (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 16328MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce GTX 460
DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
Display Memory: 4065 MB
Dedicated Memory: 993 MB
Shared Memory: 3071 MB

Is this good enough for the game? I am really worried about sinking almost a hundred dollars for a powerpoint slide game.

I've picked up Star Trek Online again.  Anybody play?  I want to start a fleet, even if everyone else leaves it and I'm a fleet of one...

I have a ship but Havent played for a couple months

I got on yesterday for the first time in months.  If we can come up with three more people we can start me (us?) a fleet.

Friend of mine has been doing a stream of him playing DS:PtDe. I've been advising/trolling as I and his girlfriend see fit. Apparently one of the basilisks in the Depths scared him pretty bad last night.

He thought he got them all, so he ran into the pit that leads to the Evil Eye Ring and there's a basilisk right there. I see him panic with his character and start rolling around and running into the wall. I flip to the IRC room and his girlfriend posted "LMAO HE JUST SCREAMED."

He says he just yelled "Holy Shit." But she claims it came out closer to "RAUGHASBDLJASFJABS:K!"

I bought the game. I'm installing it and patching it up before I play and I'll see what happens.

It would be a goddamn waste of 77 bucks if this game shits out on my killer rig.

I have a feeling it won't... More like, i'm pretty damn sure it won't.

Working very smoothly at medium settings. I have yet to take the plunge and go whole hog on the top tier quality settings yet.

And I'm loving how I don't have to run back to any quest-giver for my rewards.

I recently reinstalled Oblivion on my computer, and it's annoying me a little.  Why?  Because one of my character's main skills is heavy armor, and I keep getting magical light armor instead.  I think I'll be swapping to light anyway though so I can sneak around and steal alchemy supplies.

In Oblivion, the only stealth penalty comes from your shoes.  If you wear exclusively heavy armor, but take off your shoes, you have no penalty.  Also, you can enchant your armor to 110% chameleon with little effort once you get access to the Mage's Guild.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

So I've been playing Resident Evil 6.

It's not great, but it's not bad. I would have liked if they remembered Claire once in a while, she hasn't been in a game since Code Veronica. Of the four new characters introduced, only two get any real character development. The game's gotten more frantic, but at least the zombies are back!

Why do I feel that Guild Wars 2 doesn't like melee characters?

Every dynamic event that ends with an epic boss fight even my warrior switches to a ranged weapon immediately, because even properly played guardians die around the bosses and nobody could get close enough for a rally without ending up on the floor as well.

The error comes from assuming that melee is a type of character. Every class in the game has a ranged weapon, knowing which weapon is appropriate for a particular situation is a big part of the games tactics. Melee does a whole pile more damage than ranged but is only to be used for certain encounters.

It's not the stealth penalty I'm worried about since I'm a Journeyman now, it's the total weight of my alchemy stuff in addition to the armor.  Luckily I'm on my way to Master in heavy armor so I can ignore the weight.  And by on my way I mean I'll find a rat in the sewers or something and have it attack me for a few minutes.

I forgot the mages guild did enchants like that though.  Time to work on my magic too.

Sorry, not gonna pirate it, and I'm gonna wait for the Steam winter sale to get it cheap(er).

In other news, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is awesome!  Not quite as strategic as the original, but they streamlined it and kept most of the good bits.  No more snakeman enemies, but the sectoids, cyberdiscs, mutons, sectopods, and even chrysalids are back, as well as a few new aliens.  Overall, it's well worth picking up.

Man, you break my heart. Especially since XCOM is about the same price as BL2..
