Pokémon Conquest is fun enough, although no less childish. Basically you have feudal Japan warlords competing to unite a vast country, and when one of them is done Arceus shows up. It's significantly less 'deep' than regular Pokémon, but the tone is slightly more serious, without losing appeal to the kids.
Meh... not really what I'm looking for, then.

Hey, at least the characters show a more interesting development than the regular series.

Anybody played Don't Starve?  It's on Steam sale for $7.50
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

I couldn't get into it, but that might be just me.

Aside from the fact that most monsters are more immediately dangerous, even late in the game, I feel like Minecraft kinda does survival better.  The thing that's kinda frustrating about Don't Starve is that you never really get to the point where you can stop worrying about your food, health, or sanity, and the game can't seem to decide whether it wants you to move continuously or build up a base in one spot.

It's probably one of the best survival games so far, and I got about 20 hours out of it so... meh.  Also, I played some time ago.  Recent patches may have improved some of the things that bothered me.

I'll post about it when it does eventually come out.  The big thing I'm looking forward to is not needing a flat surface to run on so I don't have to spend hours flattening stuff to make quick runs.

Much appreciated, there are a handful of things I'm looking forward to. :)

Saints Row IV!

It's Saints Row III, but they lampshade your wizard powers to summon tanks and planes by plussing you into the matrix. You also get super powers in the town of Steelport, because bitches love superheros. If this game has a plot, let me know. It seems more like 12 short missions with 400 hours of side quests. Technically, for what it is I can't say I've got any major complaints other than they played this one close to the chest, but branching out to make fun of more than just GTA is sequel worthy.

I actually liked Saints Row, which is HUGE considering I openly loathe the open world scheme. But I liked it for being a parody, even though it should have more funny and less pixelated titties.

There are two problems with open-world games:

1) There's basically no way to account for the player stealing absolutely everything that isn't nailed down and just buying the best crap money can buy within a few hours of gameplay without making your world a lot less interactive.

2) If a player decides he doesn't like a quest NPC and decides to kill him, you somehow need the game to handle that gracefully and not have the storyline be eternally screwed past that point.

Most open-world games handle at least one of these two problems badly.  Some of them, however, kinda side-step it altogether by blatantly not giving a fuck like Saints Row.

Tell me about it. Robbing a store, then turning around and buying it before the cops showed up, and then blowing up their cars and waltzing back into a store gets stale after the first ten times you do it.

Making a portable gaming system too big to fit in your pocket completely misses the point of portable gaming, in my opinion.  Maybe I'll get the 2nd gen one.

From what I've heard, it's aimed toward younger children, so the design isn't so much for portability as it is durability.

Reopening the Nintendium mines perhaps.
Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.

And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

What it needs is to be as durable as the original gameboys. Those things were friggin tanks. Like did you drop it in the tub? Meh, just let it dry. Drop it down a flight of stairs? Ha, your game didn't even reset. Pump 9 volts of power into it (it's designed for 6 btw)? Man that LED power light shined. Throw finger paint on it? Rub some dirt and gasoline on it, it'll shine right up.

Reminds me of the first Xbox... I saw someone drop one of those on their foot once. It broke most of the bones on impact
