Terraria's 1.2 update is coming on October 1st.  I really hope it doesn't increase system requirements since my computer has had a couple problems with it here and there.

Finally!

Maybe marginally.  The big issue with Terraria (and Minecraft for that matter) is the handling and rendering of 1000's of blocks on-screen, and I do not believe that it is fundamentally changing in 1.2.

EDIT: I would like to slightly alter this statement, because I just saw the Terraria 1.2 trailer and... dem particles.

If you play single-player, it should be fine.  If not... who knows.

I am seriously now waiting for Minecraft to become a more fully fledged game instead of a semi-beta in order to get back to the game. Also... Play some newer games that i've neglected for a while....

I did play Spec Ops: The Line recently. THAT GAME IS AWESOME.

Yes, it's linear. Yes, we have played that game several times through FPS. But the story makes up for it all. Serious subversion of the genre. Really powerful moments and subtle hints that only hit you when you're nearly at the end of the game. The main character really changes, ever so slightly, and you go through it all with him. Liked it very much... But i didn't think it was too difficult. Played it on hardest difficulty and i still had an easy enough time through the game that i didn't get frustrated.

If i don't get frustrated at least SOME times then i'm not playing on Hard, lol.

Aren't they re-coding Minecraft in a different language? That could be a while.

It's gonna be a while before i can really dedicate time to games again... I'm really backlogged on a lot of RL stuff i've neglected for far too long, including getting a more stable and better paying job, concluding college, giving due attention to my son and fianceƩ, etc...

Sadly.

I really miss the days where i could be an irresponsible spoiled brat who could play videogames all day and night and just don't give two fucks about three fucks...

Speaking of mmos, Tera Online will be giving one free max-level character with high-end gear included over this weekend.

(and related comic)

Fuck Tera and their banning of Singapore and Malaysia IP addresses.

That's really the only solution to the badness that is Tera Online.  The grind in that game is fucking miserable and boring.

EDIT: FTL made me cry, today.  It was only, like, one tear, but omg that game.

I unlocked the Red-Tail today, and in sector 5 I had a human gold-star pilot, a human gold-star shield engineer, a zoltan gold-star engineer, a mantis gold-star gunner, two rock gold-star close-combat fighters, and even a fresh mantis recruit.  I had maxed shields, level 4 engines, a drone system with a system repair and defense droids, a hull repair droid in storage for repairs between shops, Engi Med-bots, a scrap recovery arm, and long-range sensors.  My weapons kinda sucked, but just a little, and I was often still able to punch through level 3 shields with them.

By sector 7, over half my crew was dead, I was down to 10 hull points, and I was out of drone parts to repair my ship, and it all started because of a bullshit Rebel Fighter that instantly jumped away RIGHT when it's 10-health pilot walked into the cockpit my rock fighters were wrecking for the second time, after it had been repaired slightly after I completely destroyed it earlier in the fight.

I need to ask: FTL? Is that an acronym for Faster Than Light?

Because if it is, I've been hurting for good sci-fi games.

It is.

FTL is a rogue-like as I believe they're called.  Quite fun, quite addictive.  Basically you control the crew of a space ship on the run from rebel forces.  The rebels keep you moving ahead, so the pressure is on to collect as much scrap and upgrade your ship sufficiently for the final showdown.  Because it's a rogue-like and thus very random you have many varied random encounters and difficulty.  That, and you grow attached to these otherwise unspecified crew.  Woe, my captain is dead, slain by mantis warriors.... and so on and so forth.

It's cheap, and well worth its price.  Give it a shot.
Mudada.

Another cheap sci-fi game you might be interested in trying is SPAZ.  It stands for Space Pirates and Zombies.

Or, come the middle of November, a big expansion will be released for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, called XCOM: Enemy Within ...

FTL is currently part of Humble Bundle 9, along with several other spectacular games. It's a Name-your-price deal, but you have to pay more than average (usually around $5) to get the whole set of games.

I'll consider buying it as soon as banks lift their bullshit policy towards buying from international stores using Brazillian money, which is really  :banghead :banghead worthy.

Got my revenge on FTL earlier this afternoon.  5.5k points with the Red-Tail cruiser.

EDIT: Also, I just re-installed LoL again.  I found out my university had a LoL club, so I joined it, went to a meeting tonight and played a couple of games where the other 9 guys were all in the same room.  Best time I've ever had playing LoL.

Terraria's 1.2 update is out!

The game looks much better than before!  And I immediately loved one of the new features: single-high blocks don't stop horizontal movement.  It's a QoL improvement that makes the game immediately more enjoyable, I find.  Also, now damaged creatures have health bars, and the game has a map feature!  Can't wait to see what other new additions have been added!
