I knew of Megaman Legends 3, but Megaman Universe is news to me. I.E. I have no idea what it was supposed to be about. So let's see...

Universe was going to be the Starcraft Map Editor for Megaman 2. Make your own maps, fuck with ones that exist, add special abilities, share them with other folks. It was designed for XBLA and PSN with DLC planned for it, too. Then Infanue left Capcom because he thought Capcom (and Japanese developers in general) were far behind what Western developers were doing in terms of game innovation and quit Capcom after being promoted to Global Head of Development or somesuch title. When he formed Comcept, he offered to license the rights to Megaman to continue work on Legends 3 and Universe but Capcom said no (and then blamed the fans instead of holding grudges).

Anyways, we just got Portal 2 and Red Dead Redemption GOTY. Portal 2's pretty awesome. My girl is really enjoying Red Dead (Iunno if I'll give it a shot since I've not finished any of the other open world games I've started).

In related news, the Valve new employee handbook was leaked. I don't know if Valve is trolololing us again, but pay attention to the top left panel on page 20.

Phantasy star online 2 is coming out this year. That I already knew some weeks ago.

The final follow up of my first and favorite mmo(despite taking me over a year to figure out I could play with other people online instead of just split screen). Guns. Oversized swords. Dual wielding laser machine guns. Oversized cannons. Magic. Tecniques. Robot maids with guns. Waves of bloodthirsty enemies coming all at once instead of one at a time. Actual real-time action instead of that boring point-and-click all other mmos seem to be so fond of. Your character doesn't need to wear huge spiked pauldrons in late game. Even today I still pick up PSO now and then despite all the other fancy free mmos out there.

But now I discovered it will be Free To Play. Right away. I... Can't express my joy in words. The only way SEGA could make the news better would be if PSO 2 would start world peace, solve the financial crisis and cure all diseases.

If it's coming out in December, that would explain a LOT.

Any news which platform it will go for besides PC, if any?

Actually, it looks like it'll come out this summer! Beta closes in April and then they go for the finishing touches! Sure, I'll probably don't have broadband during summer as I usually go to my grandma's house in the countryside, but even then it's just a few months away! :love

As for extra plataforms, it seems like it will also come for the PS Vista and smartphones. Silly Sega. They choose the console that can't work for more than a hour with broadband actived, that'll surely work for an mmo. :lmao

In this thread you can find a compilation of all the main game info so far.

As mentioned earlier, a couple of weeks ago I started Mass Effect 2. Since I got some positive feedback about my Skyrim whine earlier, here come my thoughts about Mass Effect 2.

First a little something about how I played. I started the game as a Vanguard, because the rare few times I had tried the original Mass Effect, I used that class. The abilities were simple enough. For the most part I utilised Charge and Incendiary ammo, but enemies behind cover usually got a Shockwave treatment. Easy to use, not much to say about that. The problem emerged when I realised I had played a lot of Skyrim before starting Mass Effect 2, so the rate of fire took me by surprise and I really struggled as a Vanguard. Shotguns were out of the question at that point, which pretty much forced me to stick with SMGs. Tempest really saved me there.

My second try was with Engineer. Never finished the game, because it became relatively boring well before I reached the final stage. Combat drone distracted the tough guys, I usually had someone with an ammo effect that helped the entire squad and I was free to spam Incinerate. As my extra power I took Reave, which proved to be a fabulous choice. Add in Overload and I was the perfect support character for the rest of the team.

I just finished the last stage with a Soldier. This class lacked the utility of the Engineer, but I found it equally enjoyable. Adrenaline rush was extremely useful for someone with my aiming skills and the Revenant assault rifle proved a solid choice. My extra power was Warp ammo, because I found it to be the most useful if levelled quickly. This is because accessing Incendiary ammo required Distruptor ammo ranks and Cryo ammo again required Incendiary ammo ranks... I found it easier to concentrate on Warp ammo. Much like with my Vanguard character, I dealt heaps of damage, but relied on other team members for utility.

There were some issues that bugged me with all three characters though. Basically, I found it unnecessary to use any other characters than Garrus, Samara and Mordin. Usually either of the latter two teamed with Garrus. This was particularly true with Engineer and Soldier, because the former could keep the toughest guys distracted for Garrus and the latter was complemented by Reave and Concussive shot. Additionally, Garrus had Overload, so even maps that were crawling with synthetics I had little trouble. Luckily my Soldier eventually acquired Distruptor ammo, because that helped a lot against the geth... I did use the other characters frequently as well, but my observation was that they were more or less subpar compared to the aforementioned trio.

My second gripe is with the resources. I disliked going around random planets hoping to find a couple of rocks to turn into upgrades. It was boring. After the first playthrough the player gets a significant starting bonus though, so that offset most of the annoyance of mining. On the positive side, plenty of planets had side quests you could only find by scanning around and tossing probes, so even this problem wasn't too annoying.

On the upside, there was plenty to explore and interact with. Cities had a lot of small side quests that were fun enough even if the rewards were nonexistent, the squad members had unique comments about their environment, Bioware hid in jokes about their old games and whatnot. Thoroughly enjoyable, especially if you caught the jokes. Most of the people you can recruit were interesting and had plenty of interaction options going for them. That is something I always appreciate in a game like this, makes things feel more organic. Even the loyalty missions served a specific purpose and brought immediate benefits. "Go for the optics!"

Another pro was the was array of items in the game. Weapon, armour, biotic and tech upgrades, model ships for your cabin, a space hamster, different species of fish and everything. Especially the upgrades were almost a requirement at higher difficulty levels and that really gave me motivation to go out of my way to unlock doors and take detours. Even finding a Heavy pistol damage upgrade felt good once your made your first headshot with the newly improved gun.

Anyway, what I got out of the game... Well, it was pretty neat actually. The DLCs, while nice, disappointed me, because the two new characters could not be talked to onboard. You could listen to their stories, but there was no interaction, which was unfortunate. A couple of things I found frustrating, but YMMV. In any case, I enjoyed ME 2 and I loaned my friend's ME 3 despite the fact I probably won't have any time to play it before the summer. We shall see.

Because if it were, no amount of raping from 4Kids would "fix" it.

Also, budget.

Eh, how bad can it be, really? Here's what you have to do to unlock the Land of Carnage in Disgaea 4:

- Complete at least 25 X-Dimension Maps. In order to acquire said maps, you must find a Scalper, a ridiculously rare Mystery Gate Encounter so you can buy the tickets. You should also have money in the orders of duodecuple-digits.
- Find all the P Flonzor X parts. This requires you to capture a number of very specific enemies and interrogate them for the locations of said parts as treasures. Only the P Flonzor X parts will do (but there are also U and G Flonzor parts you can acquire in the exact same manner). Save Scumming will save your sanity.
- One of the parts requires you to defeat a group of overleveled, rather rare pirates that only show up within the last ten floors of a legendary item.

So... yeah. How bad can it be?

Well, Altus likes to make it's players suffer. Have you ever tried to beat the original Trauma Center? That game makes you work for that S-rank

I actually beat the original Trauma Center. No S-Rank though.

The second one was significantly easier.

Besides, Atlus didn't develop Disgaea, only published it - the game was developed by Nippon Ichi Software.

Atlus has a history of publishing extremely difficult games in addition to producing them, too. Prime Example: Demon Souls. An Atlus spokesperson said something to the effect of, "We sleep better when our gamers are crying." They didn't make the game, but they published it.

At least you can cheat at Blitzball. Final Fantasy 12? Not happening. Take everything bad about FFX. Multiply it by five, Divide by cheating douchebag, and add Ivalice, and in the process grow to hate everything you loved about FFT. And FUCK whoever thought randomly trapping chests that remove the best weapon in the game was a good idea. No, seriously, FUCK THEM. Certain chests, if opened, cause the best weapon in the game to despawn. These chests are not marked out in any way. You won't even know this happens unless you look at a FAQ.

You needed hours to beat those? I just needed a few seconds to pay Sengar Zonbolt, the sword that smites evil Yojimbo to slice them in half, since there's nothing he can't cut his instant death ultimate is untyped and thus bypasses all immunities on the game, except for the final boss, and that's just because said final boss is smart enough to steal your aeons before facing you. :p

Actually, I heard that one was completely intentional. The infinity-uber-sword is precisely suposed to be a reward if you go for a speed-run and don't stop to pick every other side-quest you find. I can respect an RPG that forces me to make decisions and need to abdicate one thing for another.

Kinda like in Cave Story, the starter weapon can be "upgraded" into 3 diferent weapons... But only one, and picking it blocks the other two. And yes, each upgrade option happens at completely diferent game times.  Similarly the "extra" level demands precisely skiping an important item mid-game, that'll make your life considerably harder.

It's mostly about hijacking that one goalkeeper from the Al-Bed. Once you have her, the rest of it is pretty easy.
