I'm clocking an average of 12 seconds on a 100 meter dash. Not bad...
That's damn impressive really.

World record is 9.58 seconds, I've got a long way to go.
I hear most amateurs tend not to break those records.

Imagine how pissed off the current record holder would be if I broke it.  :lmao

Let's face it, if you REALLY want to break the record, all you'll need to do is run with your fists in front of you.  Your fists tend to break most things.
“Hast thou not felt in forest gloom, as gloaming falls on dark-some dells, when comes a whisper, hum and hiss; savage growling sounds a-near, dazzling flashes around thee flicker, whirring waxes and fills thine ears: has thou not felt then grisly horrors that grip thee and hold thee?”

OR, I could punch a copy of the Guinness' Book of World Records, thereby breaking ALL records!

I just found out that my grandmother (an 86-year-old presbyterian minister's wife, mother of 6, and the sweetest woman you could ever meet) has an aggressive form of leukemia.

After a CAT scan, numerous blood tests, and a bone marrow biopsy, the leukemia is nowhere to be found.  The full results of the biopsy won't be done for a couple weeks, but so far it seems the cancer is so early on that they can't even treat it.

That's great news, right? Your grandma should be okay.  :)

It is great news :) I mean, she still has something -- she has a lesion under her arm that's a clear leukemia marker.  But it's very early on, and if the marrow biopsy is negative they'll just keep an eye on her and do tests every so often.  When something shows up they can treat it.

In the worst-case scenario (i.e. bone marrow transplant needed) you also have more time to look for donors. Have you spoken to the doctors about it?

I haven't spoken to them about anything -- all the news is coming through my mom.  (My grandparents don't like to cause a big scene, so they relay everything through one of their children to the rest of the family.)  It may be that once something shows up, they won't treat it (because she's 86), but that's not anything to be worried about right now because at the moment she has no symptoms.

Clearly leukemia runs in the family: their oldest son died of it when he was 6.

Well yeah that is relatively good news, SirP.
My grandmom was a 90 year-old Presby Minister's wife,
and her brain kinda disappeared for a year and a half.
Then she came back for another 10 years; so you never know.
Presby's aren't "really" supposed to believe in faith healings ...

Lasagna in the oven, excellent wine and a presumably good movie waiting. My world makes sense again, at least for today.

Accidentally stumbled across a decent discount. Got a passable mouse and keyboard at an affordable price, so now I can take my laziness to a completely new level. Instead of sleazing on the couch with the laptop on my, well, lap, I can now keep it on the table and use the new wireless keyboard and mouse combo instead. Never thought reaching nirvana was this easy. Typing with the new, British keyboard is still a bit slow and clumsy though.

Got my gaming on after over a year, perhaps more, of no gaming.  :D We've started off a campaign today, featuring my alchemist, Dr. Skull (whose behavior is 2/3 inspired by Dr. House and 1/3 inspired by Doctor No). He's an alchemist that pissed off the wrong noble by not being able to cure his ailing wife and, in an effort to avoid persecution, sovereign glued a skull to his face.

My wife and I received a grill as an early anniversary parent from my in-laws.  I put it together yesterday with help from my brother, and today we had the inaugural run.  My wife made grilled caesar salad (grilled romaine hearts, grilled chicken, grilled baguette), with kumato caprese salad on the side; then for dessert she made a strawberry/blueberry/raspberry pie.

It was SOOOOO good.
