So today is my last proper day in London before flying out to Philadelphia tomorrow. It's bitter sweet because I'm flying over to be with my fiancée, better wages and starting a new life but also, I'm moving out of a house that I love, moving away from friends that I've lived with for, in some cases, 7 years and well, leaving England for good and much as it's annoying at times its still home.

But my housemates have arranged an awesome last day for me.  25 friends are coming over at 2.30pm for a barbecue and cocktails, then we're off to bowling and karaoke followed by the pub and ending the evening at a fun fair that has handily set up on Finsbury Park this week.  Waltzers are going to be interesting after that much alcohol...

I imagine there will be lots of hugs, tears, reminiscences and happiness.  Can't wait :D

I know a good karaoke place in Philly, when you arrive -- we went there for my wife's birthday this year.  Good food, and not very expensive, plus they have private rooms you can reserve (though book them at least 2 weeks in advance).

It was an incredible night.  Ended up paying £108 rather than £180 for 4 lanes of bowling for an hour and an hour of a private karaoke room - they ended up letting us stay karaoking for the rest of the night for free because we were spending so much at the bar.

and now I'm in Philadelphia, wide awake despite having no sleep Saturday night, boarding a plane at 4pm GMT and getting to my girlfriend's at 11pm Eastern.  Gritty eyed to say the least.

Thanks! Going out to explore the city today.  It's been quite pleasant so far - an old chap with a zimmer-frame (best get used to calling it a walker) deafly bellowed "good morning!" at me at half 7 while I was smoking out the front of the building.  No one in London says hello to anyone. Ever. Even if you know them.

my sister in law is in the icu.

this makes me very very happy.    :fu :fu :jumping :evillaugh :birthday

if i could do so without changing my condition and quality of life, i would go actively try to make her worse. i have come very close to disregarding the 'condition and quality of life' guidelines in the last. but for now, she isnt worth it.

for now, im a happy little camper, gonna sleep easy tonight.

Being happy that someone is in intensive care is pretty grim no matter what they may have done.  If they'd caused you physical harm and you were scared for your health/life I could understand feeling relief but I don't think I could understand being actually happy about that state of affairs...

I heard some people talk about this by the end of the third set (is that what you call it in hockey?). When I asked what sport they were talking about they looked at me as if I had missed out on something important. Sports and coffee-drinking are the two major Swede-stereotypes I refuse to conform to  :D

Only a 2 hour lecture today and Monday and Tuesday are holidays.

I also found a supervisor for a project course I wanted to do this autumn.  :D

World record is 9.58 seconds, I've got a long way to go.
