None today!

I have a weird relationship with smoking.  I like rolling my own cigarettes so that habit itself is hard to break.  But when I am in the States its hard to get decent rolling tobacco and I loathe, really loathe 'straights', so would go days without smoking and then chain smoke a 20 pack on a night out drinking.

I'm going to do it cold turkey.  After about a week any chemical dependency is gone so its just a matter of actual habit breaking.  I've given enough CBT to patients and service users that I should be able to apply it to myself!  ;)
Something inside me dies when I see the word fallacy applied to ideas held about roleplaying. And a small bit of vomit comes up when I see a character called a 'toon'.

I've been told that the brain is apt to attribute any problems to the lack of an addicting substance, which is the main problem of quitting.

Bhu: CBT is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  Altering maladaptive thought patterns.  It isn't useful for everything but does have decent application for addictions (as well as phobias and some anxiety disorders and compulsion disorders)

NHS website gives a really basic run down

The more I hear about bhu's life, the more I become convinced that the United States government is secretly trying to experiment on him to create an American Kuroimaken.

Therapists shouldn't have prescribing rights.  They should do therapy, that's their job, not foisting meds onto people.

Oh she doesnt have the rights, she's sending me to a psych for that.  He doesn't actually do therapy he just see you for 15 minutes or less and tries to convince you to accept a script while lying about the side effects.

Only 173 Pokémon left to catch until I've completed the newest Pokédex, which clocks in at 649.  Having completed the Pokédex in Pokémon Red back during the Generation I/Generation II days, I view this completion as my sworn duty.

Yes, I'm twenty-one.  Yes, I play Pokémon.  No, I'm not going to stop.

Already had them from old, old events.  I've been playing since the first games came out, and I've been moving things forward from the old game packs for a while.

At this point, some of my Pokémon list their "Met" location as "After a long journey through time."

My wife and I made it through our son's first day of preschool!!

The teacher had him for three hours and already knows he's smart, though she has no idea how ridiculous he is (he's 2.5 and doing 1st-grade math).

After three years of not being able to practice martial arts for one reason or another, I finally got back into it tonight with an aikido class.

Well, I'm only a lesson in so I may be completely wrong, but as most of it is redirecting force, I would say yes. I'm not terribly strong, but I can manage rather well.

Yesterday I visited my "new" aunt and her still unborn kid.

A little background. One of my uncles has been through a horrid divorce. Luckily, he found himself another woman, this one much more loving and deserving of love. She's now six and a half months pregnant.

There were complications, however. For some reason or another, she lost a lot of amniotic fluid. A small spot of infection was found. She flew here because my city boasts one of the best newborn ICUs in the country, and is now in the hospital across the street from my home.

So I went for a visit. Unable to curb my curiosity, I reached for her belly and stroked it a little bit.

The little one kicked. Really hard. I could feel his foot clearly against my hand. I could feel the young life within. I could feel his will to live - I could almost see him.

His mom mentioned he hadn't kicked in a couple of days, so she'd been a little worried. But for some reason, my visit really put her at ease.

I believe everything's gonna be alright.

My reading comprehension for the first line was terrible and I read it as "yesterday I visited my "new" aunt and her stillborn kid" and thought this was absolutely in the wrong thread. But then read the rest and was relieved

Good health to the little one!

On a more banal happiness level I just sold some really really terrible books. We're talking "an introduction to Rudolph Otto's philosophy of religion" and "black feminist epistemology" - most of which I was given years ago when a professor was retiring. 31 books (most never read by me they're that boring looking) for £178.  Might consider selling some of my own books that I enjoyed but will likely never read again.  1e hardback copies of Heidegger's Nietzsche lectures, in german, should fetch a decent price!
