check out this thread for starters:

http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=2773.0

the Truenamer is a terrible class that should have gotten more love.  Everything that "fixes" them is all homebrew, but if your cool with that some stuff is interesting.

for my own experience I experimented with something like the spell to power psionic rules as homebrew truenamer rules.

I didn't quite get the balance right, but I made it so that anything that affected targets could be converted into a true-name effect-and even multi-target spells could only affect single targets until 13th level....  there was a material cost for conversion, like 50gp per spell level- and I allowed a spell from any domain to be converted.
The save DCs were equal to what the truenamers normal DC effects are, and the truenamer check was 4x spell level, and you couldn't learn the spell unless you were 2xthe spell level in character level.
some stuff seemed balanced and some was too overpowered... I'm not sure a straight 4x Spell level is the best conversion method.  ends up being a 36 DC for 9th level spells which may be too strong.

there's also a truenamer handbook floating around here, but I didn't think it was very good, as it mainly just tells you to max UMD and use items to make up for your handicap...

I did not know about that summery. TYVM.
I have read the handbook. But I am looking for if anyone has fixed the problems with system.
I have read the Kellus overhaul. I didn't like it, as it comes with its own problems, and doesn't fix the existing ones, just avoids them by re-making the system entirely.

I hadn't read the other "overhaul", but from the summery in that thread, it seems like it would be more of the same problem that I have with the one Kellus did.

The only things that I've ever seen are basic houserules like removing the DC increase for using the same truename over and over or just re-making the system.  If you're looking for something else I'm not sure where to point you.  :shrug

Yeah, its fundamental problems are:
-Anchored on a skill check. Skill checks are easy to double with magic items, and possibly even triple with optimization. This means an enormous amount of swing in the DCs. Usually fixed by making it a level+stat check instead.
-Scaling means the DCs go up fast. You gain 2 DC per CR, which is high without supporting magic items, or beaten like a red-headed stepchild. THEN you increase it by 2 every time you use it in a day, which swiftly pushes the DC off what you can hit within a handful of uses.
-Utterances are dual use. Buffing allies takes away from your offense, attacking cuts into your DC for buffs. This'd probably be fixed with a scaling fix.
Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

Procrastination is the thief of time; Year after year it steals, till all are fled,
And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

what Veekie said, my spell to utterance variant had all those problems.  some things are too high in DC and some are too low...  some are too easy to use some are not enough... but I think brewing some spell to power ability is the right track actually, even though its not fleshed out... the truenamer WANTS to be a spellcaster, but just doesn't quite get there...
