Help Dealing with a BBEG
« on: September 12, 2012, 12:25:02 PM »
So this certain arch nemesis of our campaign has been hounding us and destroying us at almost turn. We finally have him kinda cornered and we want to finish him off. Here is the set up

Party Consists of

DFI Bard (8th)
Rogue (8th)
Wizard/rogue Pixie (3rd)
Evil Aligned Cleric with DMM persist (me 7th)

The enemy is a 6th level warmage variant that is decently well optimized purely for blasting. We have little to no defense against spells so he has been dealing significant damage. He was getting low on health so he rope tricked through a dimension door as we were turning to fight him and hoping to finish him.

How would you go about setting this up to kill him and finish off this pest.

You guys have a cleric and did not think of Silence? Blasphemy! :P

You don't have to survive his spells... make it so he doesn't cast any - grapple, silence... any of those may help.

Nah, they're too low level for that. That's a 7th level spell. :P

I think I used silence the first two times and he passed the save and I haven't tried it again.

And who said about targeting the guy with it? Cleric use it on self, then engage Warmage in melee. Better yet, someone grapple the Warmage while under the effects of Silence.

Done. And no save required.

As Risada said, you don't cast it on him. You cast it on something else before the fight, then walk over next to him with it/him/her. That usage doesn't allow him a save, as you aren't actually targeting him with it. (Who or whatever you target with it gets the save.)

It also carries the bonus of shutting up any annoying party member.

how is it that your Pixie is even having any sort of problem at all with a 6th lvl Warmage?

the Pixie should be able to handle him by himself

Fly 60(Good)
Damage reduction 10/cold iron,
Greater Invisibility,
Spell Resistance 18

and Spell-like Abilities ..... plus Spells and other class abilities

something seems wrong here

We play weird LA rules so the pixie is 3rd level while the rest of us are 7th and 8th. Its mainly that he when the warmage uses invisibility or mirror images the warmage works on the rest of us and we all struggle to hit

what i mean is that a 3rd lvl Pixie should be able to handle a 6th lvl Warmage all by himself... he doesnt even need the rest of the party for that

Not everybody know how to use the Pixie to its pure awesomess like you do Carnivore.....

On the topic though, use silence on Rogue  and then use the cleric and the rogue to double team the enemy in melee while flanking him for sneak attack goodness while the bard provides support and the pixie maybe ranged attacks....
