Homebrew Binder PRC [PEACH]
« on: September 19, 2012, 10:51:22 AM »
I am considering running a binder based game for a few friends, and so I was thinking about creating a couple of new PRC's.  This is the first one I created.  Please let me know if it is ok or too much.  Thank you.

Seeker of Savnok
Binder PrC

Savnok is one of the most commonly bound vestiges available to a low level binder.  He offers all binders increased protection and survivability, but for those who choose to share themselves with him permanently, he offers even more protection.  Savnok believes that his windows on the world must be protected as no other, and so he extends even more of the stolen armor's power to the binder, and reduces the time to summon it.

Requirements: Ability to bind souls, must have bound Savnok previously.

                Fort   Ref     Will
Lvl   BA   Save   Save   Save   Special
1      0      2        0        0      Soul Bind +1,   Defense Contract, Armor flow, fast armor
2      1      2        1        1      Soul Bind +1,   Regeneration, swift armor
3      2      3        1        1      Soul Bind +1,   Armor Razor Spikes
4      3      3        1        1      Soul Bind +1,   Enhanced mitigation
5      3      4        2        2      Soul Bind +1,   Freedom from bondage

Hit die and skills as a binder.

Soul Bind - At each level in the Seeker of Savnok class, your soul binding ability increases as if you had gained a level of binder.

Defense Contract - when you enter the Seeker of Savnok class, you permanently bind him.  He takes up one of your vestige slots and you cannot unbind him.

Armor Flow - for each Seeker of Savnok class level, the maximum dexterity bonus of your summoned armor increases by one, the armor check decreases by one, and the arcane spell penalty is reduced by 5.

Fast armor - you gain the ability to summon your armor as a move action rather than a full round action.

Regeneration - while wearing your summoned armor, the Seeker gains Regeneration 1.  Fire or acid damage cannot be regenerated.

Swift Armor - your ability to summon or stow your armor becomes a swift action.

Armor Razor Spikes - your summoned armor causes physical damage to any who hit, grapple you or is grappled by you.  Reach and ranged weapons do not activate this ability.  For each Seeker of Savnok class level, you do one point of piercing damage.  When being bull rushed or attempting a bull rush, this damage is doubled.  For damage reduction purposes, at EBL 5 it counts as silver and magic; at EBL 9, it counts as magic +3(no extra damage); at EBL 12, it counts as cold iron; at EBL 15, it counts as adamantium.  This damage will take effect once per round for one's own grappling attempts, or once per attack for being damaged or grappled.

Enhanced Mitigation - the damage reduction gained from your summoned armor, normally 1 + 1/4 EBL becomes 1 + 1/3 EBL Seeker of Savnok class level +1/4 EBL.

Freedom from bondage - you have offered Savnok so much freedom that he now offers you more freedom within your permanent binding with him.  If you allow him to remain in your body, he no longer takes up the vestige slot he would normally sit in.  In essence, you gain Savnok as a free vestige.

Regeneration: Is there any type of damage that bypasses your regeneration, or are you as immortal as the Tarrasque?

Armor Spikes: What do you mean by it counting as magic +3? Do you mean that at EBL 9, it deals an additional 3 points of damage?
To avoid confusion with actual armor spikes, I'd suggest changing the name of this ability (for example, Razor Armor).

Enhanced Mitigation could use a buff. At level 20, it's only a 2 point of DR difference from normal (DR 8 instead of 6). It's even less at lower levels. It doesn't even have any effect at EBL 5 (when you can first get it) and at EBL 8. From EBL 9 through 14, it's only a single point difference.

Thank you for your input.  I fixed the problems you had with it by removing fire and acid damage from the regeneration and replacing the divisor on damage reduction with a straight add or class level.

I had been thinking of the fire and acid damage, but forgot to stick it in there when I wrote the class up.  Thanks again.
