Demiplanes and Plane Shifting
« on: September 23, 2012, 02:20:10 PM »
1) Is there any way to make a locked demiplane without genesis or its psionic ilk?

2) Is there any way to break into a full caster's demiplane without Miracle and Wish (5k xp hurts)

As for 2, you could go with ring of three wishes. That will cost you alot of money though, so it might not be what you were searching for.

Repeatedly, I mean. 5kxp or slowly eating up WBL isn't an option. Neither are custom magic items.

Just covering the area with Forbiddance should work to "lock" it, shouldn't it?

Quote
Forbiddance seals an area against all planar travel into or within it. This includes all teleportation spells (such as dimension door and teleport), plane shifting, astral travel, ethereal travel, and all summoning spells. Such effects simply fail automatically.

As for breaking into it without Wish... there is that planar breaching function of the Observatorium...

Uhhh... word of genesis does not allow for locking the demiplane you create. I don't play with psionics.

To answer your question, Yes.  forbiddance, dimensional lock, zone of respite, A triggered Scramble Portal could stop any would be gate users, Ditto on seal portal.

2) Is there any way to break into a full caster's demiplane without Miracle and Wish (5k xp hurts)

Yes. Plane shift. Gate. Mirror of mental prowess, Astral Projection, Plane shift greater, summon a god and bind him to take you to that demi-plane, Kidnap the owner and make him take you there, travel to an anchient magical place where the walls of reality are thin, Use a MagGuffin, you get the idea.

the Observatorium...
citation?
Manual of the Planes. It's one of the demiplanes described in there.

Been busy. Looks like a RAW abuse. The RAI feels like it is only supposed to go to the main planes (like it does when unsteered) and that the steering only controls which one of those it goes to. But it seems they forgot about private demiplanes coming from the inner or outer planes...

This isn't the first discussion on this topic I've been a part of. :D Someone brought it up in another one, and I filed it away mentally.
