Well, I've got a good AC for level 3, and good saves, and a 40-ft move speed so I can close with enemies quickly. Not much more mobile than that though, not for a few levels and can get my hands on some formulae that give flight or other movement options.

I think I'm the only character that has easy access to healing abilities. If so, would y'all want to chip in for a wand of lesser vigor? I don't mind being an out of combat shamanistic healer, but I'd rather not spend a massive chunk of my wealth (750 gp) on something that will be for the group as a whole. Hope that sounds reasonable.

Remember that the Heal skill can go a long way toward helping with that as well.

Over time, I can pick up one a circle capable of healing my allies as well to help out on that front. There's the more nature-oriented circle that I believe has some, and someone else recently made their own that was almost exclusively healing-oriented, though it doesn't seem to have DonQ's full blessing and both circles seem to be in a sort of limbo where-in neither is fully finished. What I'm getting from the discussion I'm currently sifting through is that there will be a healing-oriented circle, and Surging Spirit (the latter of the two mentioned above) is likely to be it.

Regardless, one of my concepts for the character was having an interest of healing the world through cleansing flame, or rather that "purifying flame" notion itself. So far the reason I went with Astral Essence is 1) give some decent buffs to my allies instead of just 'blasting' as well as the idea of inspiring awe in my enemies of the power of the flame. :)

I've got max ranks in heal, a decent wis(for the game, otherwise an 18 would be great ;) ) and a healer's kit. So I'll do all I can on that front for you guys no problem. I'd have had the healer's kit anyways for the dogs. As I get access to more low level spell slots, I won't mind spending the spell slots to prepare lesser vigor in a few slots to heal everybody back up at the end of a bloody fight.

I'm actually going to be a non-melee, ranged-focused demi-caster. My incarnum is helping me maintain a ranger visage right now, though I'll get some nifty spell-like abilities as I get higher bindings. So assuming we don't constantly hit wind walls, I should be good.

Though I don't think it would be a bad idea for everyone to have a ranged option, even if you just drop the short bow to draw your sword before charging.

And though it'd be awesome to have, I wouldn't make your one magic item a wand for out of combat healing. We can take our time, like the denizens probably do in this world.

I have several alchemical healing salves, which I can craft, but yeah I'd be willing to pitch in on a wand of lesser vigor, as they are more gp/hp economical. The salves cure 1d8 for 16.67 gp self-crafted (~4 gp/hp). The wand should be like 25 gp per charge, and cure 11 hp per shot (~2.5 gp/hp). I'll have to figure out what to get rid of, though... The salves are also nice because anyone can use them.

I also have a psi-power that's a lot like Entangle, but works with other materials besides plants, and has a duration of "concentration", and psionic Grease for BFC.

For offense, I have Matter Agitation and Astral Constructs (2nd level, so medium).

For "utility" I have Charm and Mindlink, as well as quasi-incorporealness and Mindsight, and a bunch of alchemical items of various sorts.

One wand is 750 gp, and I'd be willing to pay a significant chunk, sense I've the most drain on it(myself, and my pets).

To be honest, not having the ability to purchase multiple magic items has left me with a fairly large chunk of money left over. I dropped the travel cloak in favor of the extra cash and to have a bit to play with, but right now, I'm looking at 1778.55 gp left to spend. I've got masterwork armor and normal barding for all of my pets, along with a few basics. Anyone see anything I'm missing?

I still have a fair bit to finish regarding Dunewalker's wealth, so some healing salves will probably be in there though I won't get him into medium encumbrance unless that sort of thing is handwaved a bit.  Dunewalker's craft check is at +12... And I just realized you're on a totally different team.  lol

Speaking of money... my character has a pretty high craft check. So if we can start out knowing each other, he could craft your gear for you at cost, including alchemical items. If any of you could actually provide a reliable Aid Another for Alchemy, that would be awesome for hitting those DC 25 items. :P

I've got a craft bonus of 12, so hitting a dc of 10 for aid another shouldn't be too hard.  ;)

And I just realized that he doesn't have any alchemical items besides his shape sand. Any suggestions? especially if you can make them. I'll read through your background assuming it's up, and see what I can do to make it plausible that we'd know each other.

My character is probably not previously aware of the party, though that would be smart. I've managed to burn all but 120 - I like me some masterwork tools! Also I'm kind of dedicated ranged, which may bite me in my elven hiney, but we will see. I can pitch in some for the wand, though I am going to be thoroughly in the practice of not being seen. To that effect, I'm trying to decide between darkstalker, which means I can be effectively, figuratively, and literally invisible, or rapidshot, which means I'll have something to contribute to combat aside from my good looks.

Aside from the 120 gp and the feat toss up, I'm mechanically done methinks. Just need it to be approved, but I think the only thing I've not asked about is the race... So background going up soon.

And yeah, Jack, the teams thing confused me too, lol.

That's quite a good one, too. :D I have +14 for alchemy, but +11 for everything else. I think that is assuming access to an alchemist's lab, though, which I didn't purchase. I am not sure if accessing one via backstory would be an option, or if there might be a publicly available one somewhere...

For alchemical item suggestions... I did quite a bit of research, so you could check my character sheet. :P This link also had a lot, and of course the Shax's Haversack thread on GitP.

It wouldn't be hard for Grey and Grugruk to have both worked for the same patron before. Grugruk wouldn't hire out to someone killing off children or the ilk, but wouldn't be too particular about say using his dogs to track someone down.

I'll start to check away. I didn't really do much to optimize the check... maybe I calculated something wrong? It wouldn't be hard for me to grab a (pack) mule to help carry an alchemist's lab. Not really sure why he'd have no though...

Darkstalker would probably be better for your survivability. As for contributing in combat, I have a feeling hit and run/attrition tactics will be fairly common, so darkstalker would still fit in well.

Considering an Alchemist's Lab isn't needed to perform alchemy, it might be better to just not get one because the blasted thing weighs 40 pounds and costs 500g.  What were they thinking with that, especially compared to other masterwork tools?

^tis true.

I wouldn't mind a couple of bottles of battle wine and some icewild lichen paste if possible. Especially if the dogs will take some. That war paint is nice, but expensive. Some sleep smoke wouldn't be bad either.

Anyone remember the light pellet that was supposed to be thrown, but acted as a torch if you held it in your hand? If not, I'll go digging through my character sheets. I know somewhere I've used it before. I also seem to recall an item that improved natural attacks, think the metal razors on fighting chicken or the steel jaw extensions used on fighting bears.

Healing wise, I can fully heal myself out of combat via a variant of the Crusader Hoedown where I initiate a maneuver that makes my attacks heal me and then stand in the middle of a blazing inferno (created by another maneuver) glorying in its cleansing power. Which is good because I have A LOT of HP (maxxed d12s plus silly con bonus will do that) and intend to tank on occasion.

However, I'd also be ok kicking in a hundred or so gold for a wand of lesser vigor. I think that would have to be someone's 1 magic item, though, wouldn't it?

My character also has craft and I'm thinking he's been preparing for this trip for some time (which in Dragon terms may mean over a year) and has been crafting all sorts of random things he thinks he might potentially maybe need at some point. I've also got a reasonable amount of cash left, so if anyone wants mundane stuff (like masterwork tools) I can craft and pay for them and fluff it as "Korth just felt like making this. He's not sure why but he thinks it'll come in handy."

So far, I'm still lacking a magic item, so unless someone's got a better suggestion, I'm fairly open, and could use the wand.

Genius, the thing your thinking of is a vial of liquid sunlight from complete scoundrel, and I love that thing. I think it's 20 gp, and it is my go to light source. Sheds light as a torch and can be thrown to do fuck-all.

What's this battle wine? Sounds like something an elf prince on a quest might drink...

Battle wine?  Don't we know that better as a molotov cocktail?

Actually, as a ranged guy, maybe grabbing some grenades isn't a bad idea....
