A. The PF / 3x transparency was never more than a cheap marketing gag. Many PF groups don't use 3.x material (and with good reason, for putting the two together hurts big time).
B. Hey, at least PF nerfed other things, right? Like... the Monk, for instance!
C. WotC, by and large and with the help of a lot of supplements, made of their metamagic 'system' over time was, though.
Da. Calling a 3.x PrC "horrendously broken" and implying it's therefore a bad point of comparison, while at the same time harping on how broken PF is... I don't even get how your logic functions. No further comment.
Db. And who said anything about "ignoring the entire Base Wizard class in PF"?! What the fuck are you even talking about?
Dc. Spell Perfection is level 15+, limiting its play time severely. I'm not concerned about a trick that only comes online when the game is already falling apart in a series of endless rocket tag.
Dd. Arcane Concordance is a Bard spell.
De. Metamagic Focus is the best yet: it really only does something for you if there are no metamagic cost reducers applied! Do you even think before posting?
So what's it like to live in your world? I'm just asking because sucking my toes became boring recently, and I'm interested in what you do in your free time.
A. Cheap marketing gag? Boy, and where are you going for this. Validation to ignore?
B. I think that is one of the points people make about PF, caster love and all that, you know, the already most powerful classes.
C. Which is what I said before. WotC over several years released about 90 published products, several adventures, a separate company published a monthly (bi-weekly?) magazine and yet another company handled Dragonlance printing. All but one of those things is part of PF's Core. Imagine what'll look like in 6 years if they were ever good enough to make money off their product.
Da. Same as yours. I laughed at you as I wrote that section.
Db. You told us to ignore the Universitlist, who the hell do you think that is? None-specialist Wizard, ig the mother fracking Wizard. Yeah, if you ignore the spellcasting classes, Metamagic sure is a waste of time
Dc. And Magical Lineage is a Trait. That you get at level 1. For free. You can't even take Arcane Thesis until level
5 6. So what about liking low level options more because I think we have a winner.
Addendum. You know, given the number of people here that define "ability to cast X level of spells" as the functional end result. A Any Race Wizard can take Heighten Spell and the Magical Linage trait and thus functionally cast a 2nd level spell at level one. As per Editors note on RAI, it's supposed to lower Metamagic Cost rather than actually lower the Spell Level. In 3.5, you need to be a Sorcerer, with two Feats (meaning Human or Flaws) to pull off the same cheese.
Dd. And you can UMD Wands (also pathfinder savant).
De. Reread the feat there.
Benefit: When you add a metamagic feat to a spell, its effective spell level actually increases.
There isn't even a frackin notation of how much or anything of the like. The example, Silent Stilled Fireball is a 5th level spell. Well yes, such a spell is in fact treated as a 5th level spell (see trying to make it into a scroll). Except, well you're not paying the full cost and there isn't a damn thing in there saying that matters. Don't you love stuff that looks like your little brother wrote?
So to go with an example here. Any_Race Wizard 10, because 10 is half-way, for free picks up Magical Lineage and, again for free, Metamagic Mastery (2). Two of his Feats are Metamagic Focus, and Echoing Spell. Using a Wand he casts Arcane Concordance granting
the entire party Metamagic Cost reduction (something in 3.X only the Incantatrix can do, in PF any moron with UMD can do). He is a God-style Wizard, disliking nuking and loving control based spells so casts his favorite signature spell. The effect is Enlarged (for free), Echo'ed (for free), and has +4 to the Save DC. In this usage, he can cast his favorite spell a extra time per day for being a Wizard which isn't a good way to expend those usages but it does showcase all this for free shit and later on...
Now I don't you posed the point of fuck high levels, because lets face it PF at lv4 or w/e is the ONLY thing out of PF I'm supposed to compare to the absolute worst things out of WotC for 20th level characters. But bite me. Level 15 rolls around said Wizard has Perfection and via the same combo gets six free 9th level spells, +5 to Save DCs, and free Enlarge (or Extend). It cost him basically Three Feats and a Wand to do more than double his highest level of spells with a significant bonus to Save DCs, which as a
side effect also grants Metamagic Cost reduction to the entire party. But anyway, the core of things is Echoing spell is reduced from +3 to +1 and Wizard grants 6/day levels ignored or 18 levels of level cost ignored just because the guy is Wizard 20 and took a single Feat and not because he took multiple Feats and choose one of the most powerful PrCs ever written, but because PF hands him this like he needs it.
No I really don't give a rat's ass if you want to shout Incantatrix. PF has Metamagic Cost reduction and in fact gives some reduction out for free. Take your fanboyism else where before I smack you with Dazing Spell, which I can apply for free. Which as a point of if PF has Metamagic Cost reduction, makes one hell of a yes statement that cannot be disproved no matter how many monkeys fly out of someone's rear end. And speaking of manners, at least I can admit 3.X is broken and has tons of flaws. You're the one arguing
your system is perfect and making glaringly obvious statements that you're willing to ignore every flaw of it in order to say such. Being retarded offends me, and I in turn can only reflect the same behavior.
