I got the urge to build a proper surface for my laptop when it's raised on my desk, so I did some measuring and decided 24 inches by 24 inches would work for it. So I go out to our garage and find a piece of what used to be a solid wooden door, and it's 48 inches by 12.5 inches. I proceeded to cut it in half and glue it back together to be 24 by 25. I love coincidences like that.
My next project is building a stand that will let me rest my regular keyboard above, but on top of, my laptop keyboard so that it's not in front of it hogging more space than it needs to.
Edit: The laptop board looks like it will turn out fine. The glue is drying. The keyboard setup went wrong and is too small by an inch or so, so I have to redo it. Luckily that should only take about ten minutes, but that'll happen tomorrow since I don't like working past 9 PM.
