Starcraft Universe Raid boss.  Those guys majorly deserve to get their kickstarter campaign done.  7 days left and still 30% to go according to that video.  Hell, I'm tempted to get one of those online gift cards and toss $30 at them because SCU is going to be awesome if it launches.

In my own news, I visited the nurse practitioner at the college and she said they could do a $25 test to check if I had a bacteria in my gut called H. Pylori.  If I do, that's likely the cause of my pain and the treatment for it is two different antibiotics and a regimen of Pepto Bismol for ten days to clear it up.  I am really, really hoping that's what's going on because the other possibility (a hiatial hernia, basically where part of the stomach goes up into the diaphragm) is going to be expensive to test for and to surgically correct.

I have hiatial hernia. You don't really need to do surgery to correct it, unless it's a really serious hernia. I have gastritis, and that's what caused the hernia... I control my reflux and acidity with medication, which does the trick. I take one that basically takes my stomach acid down to less than 5% of usual levels, other that numbs down the natural vomitting reflex, another that i can chew on that makes a protective coating around the stomach lining after i eat, and finally, i take medication for sleep-aid, anxiety and stress management. So i can be the most Zen person ever, and not have any problems at all with my gastritis. Hooray for me!

And how much does that all cost?  When I had my EGD done everything was normal, so no gastritis for me then.  Dunno about now.  But if I do have a hiatial hernia that can be treated like that, I'll have to look at the costs of the medication over whatever time versus the costs of surgery.

And yeah, I've had some of the vomiting.  Not big gushes, just cough ups like a baby's.

Gastritis meds are expensive, at least here in my country.

My gastritis med might be different than yours, also. But, if they're going to control your acidity, they're going to use one from this class of meds. Some are more expensive than others, and their efficiency and dosage varies as well, also, side effects. Like i said.. hard to precise how much you'll be sinking in exactly. What other meds they're going to prescribe, i have absolutely no clue. It'll all depend on your individual diagnosis.

i have the h.hernia and previously had non pylori ulcers. (ouch)

i take a thing called Zegrid, the prescription strength. its a pump inhibitor (omeprazole) and sodium bicarb. a months supply runs me 10 or 15 dollars. the otc version is slight more expensive since my prescription is covered by insurance.

Already on a pump inhibitor (omeprazole).  I should see if I can cut back on its use though since there's some evidence long term use can cause lower bone density.  I'm currently taking 20mg twice a day, but I could perhaps lower that, though it might result in more pain.

@Altpersona: I recall Tums is calcium bicarbonate..  Ah, just carbonate, not bicarbonate.  Either way, I've had that several times to decent effect.

when i had my ulcer Tum was useless. i ate packs at a time to no avail.

pepcid chewables helped lots, but not as well as the zegrid. the zegrid was spot on amazing for me.

lately when i take the zegrid i get gassy/stomach bloat, i dont take it often...

Constantly eating calcium can have bad side effects as well.  Have you tried magnesium?

Upright bass jamming.

my dad's been doing that for years. He used to be part of a group called "Heavy Wood" as they all played woodwind or strings when they jammed. ^^
