So, first session in a steampunk-based Savage Worlds game. I make a short, chain-smoking mad scientist with a (relatively) small-sized giant robot.
Important note: as a rule, my characters only smoke when they know it can't harm them. This one knows, he just doesn't care.
He arrives at a bar fight. There's a noble harassing a drunkard who spat the wrong way (another player).
Andy (that's my guy) orders his Giant, Terry, to open up the door with his foot.
Terry complies. Andy just looks at the whole thing.
Big guy stands up, claims something about looking for trouble.
"Terry, pass me the Beam Rifle."He manages to scare off the big guy without a fuss (after a short altercation wherein he tells Andy to get out of his way, and Andy gets him to say 'please'). The noble thinks he's being threatened instead, and grovels.
"What are you talking about? Look, if you insist, you can pay me a drink or something."Turns out the big guy stole the noble's purse. Andy gathers the party and goes off after the big guy.
Meanwhile, there's this elven pistol-mage (another player) who has been on the run for a while. He finds the camp for the big guy's goons. Sneaks around, manages to steal the purse... only to fail a stealth check and then botch his escape entirely. He ends up climbing a tree, tries to scare the guys off with a shot.
We're not too far, and thus listen to the gunshot. We rush over, Andy riding Terry. Andy is a honorable guy, so he offers the big guy a chance to surrender. He ends up grabbing a goon and running for it, only to take the first Beam Rifle shot of the campaign. Two raises, that one hurt.
Then suddenly... timeloop!
Andy manages to comprehend the situation he's in, so he enters the bar the very same way. And when the big guy tells him to get out of the way...
"Not before you return the purse you stole."Big guy draws his axe. Andy already has his Beam Rifle.
"I've seen this play before. Spoiler alert, your character doesn't live to see the sequel..."We ended the session there, but it was pretty fun.
