So I'm running today. The sun outside looks like it was born to mock me for my foolishness; it's clocking in at nearly 40º Celsius.
Near the end of it, my teacher instructs me to run two laps around this mini-plaza there is near home (80 meters wide, 130 meters tall).
Near the halfway mark for the first lap,
this starts playing on my phones.
My brain goes into overclock mode. Everything starts looking... slower. I realize I've "shifted gears" (switched from my jogging speed to my dashing, "top" speed) without meaning to.
Around halfway on the second lap I hear the distinctive peal of thunder.
I finish the second lap a little under the halfway point of the song. So I ask my teacher what that sound was. He tells me there was lightning racing across the sky a few kilometers off in a certain direction. I look that way.
Nary a cloud in the sky.
I ask him if he's sure. He asks me how the hell I could've missed it, because it was REALLY freakin' bright. I tell him I don't know.
Weird yet awesome start for a day.
