thougths on a wizard/spelldancer
« on: December 02, 2012, 12:34:41 AM »
I am looking at a spelldancer build where I can take tireless(players guide to faerun) and either one level of binder into anima mage or the incarnate human and shape soul meld strongheart vest for unlimited persisted spells. To do so I need a lot of feats. (6 minimum: dodge endurance, combat casting and mobility as well as persist and extend) Is there any advice people can give or is it pretty much going to be a 15th level build.

To the end of getting more feats I can take the combat wizard variant for a fighter feat at 1 and 5... which I thought got me there with a couple more fighter levels but it turns out that endurance isn't a fighter bonus feat.

Ok how does this look.
wizard 5: combat variant(scribe scroll and 5th level bonus feat as fighter feats)
heavy legs graft from faiths of eberron p. 158 (6 k gold) http://www.scribd.com/doc/89379568/Faiths-of-Eberron
cleric 1 for planning domain(aka. extend spell)
1:wizard
2:cleric
3:wizard
4:wizard
5:wizard
6:wizard
fatigue immunity from heavy legs.

1: endurance
Azurin bonus feat: shape soul meld
Wizard(fighter) bonus feat: dodge
2. extend spell(planning domain)
3:persist spell
6:wizard(fighter) bonus feat: mobility
6: combat casting
and then into spell dancer for CR-1 casting and unlimited persisted extended spells.

How would you feel about using necropolitan for your immunities?

Unless you get perform as a class skill, you'll have to be level 9 to qualify for spelldancer.  Feat rogue may be a good way to get perform.

I'm pretty sure you can use the wizard variant that gives fighter feats and still use the variant that gives a domain granted power.  So, you can get a fighter bonus feat at 1st level, then extend spell from the planning domain at 5th level.

Actually necropolitan was the original idea for immunities but It sort of fell out of favor after I realized it lost you a level and then some. I realize you would gain back levels faster just like if you bought off LA gain it back but I was still looking for a better way.

Hmmm Now that is a problem. Now I have to look for a way to get perfom as a cleric class skill. A domain or some such nonsense

How about this. 1 level of martial rogue instead of cleric and then use the acf for wizard you mentioned to get extend. Then you get free unlimited persists.

If Bloodlines (Unearthed Arcana) are allowed, there are several that grant Dodge and Mobility as bonus feats.

Don't dip binder,  you can just take Bind Vestige and Improved Bind Vestige to enter Anima Mage.  Take Improved Binding when you enter, and retrain out the first two feats to something you care about.

Interesting. If I could get access to immunity to fatigue from a visage then I would definitely go for this trick, just for the pounce form the visage who's name i can't remember.

I actually thought of that but ruled it out for the same reason as necropolitan. First of all bloodlines are really disputed on the boards, mainly because RAW they are super broken. Also this build is semi for a campaign that I am starting soon that starts us as 7th level characters and I don't want to be that squishy =P.

This won't help.  If you no longer have soul binding (from retraining out the feats), you won't get any benefit from the improved soul binding.
