[Pathfinder] Monks and Amulet of Mighty Fists got some loving
« on: December 04, 2012, 10:26:27 PM »
The newest blog entry has changed monks ki pool ability, as well as their flurry of blows, and the amulet of mighty fists' cost.
Check it out for yourself. http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/v5748dyo5le61?Monkeying-Around

This makes the class that little bit better, and the amulet that much more affordable.

Let's see...
1) Undoing a pointless and ill-thought nerf.
2) An actual buff in certain uncommon (though not as rare as I first thought) situations. Kinda disappears a few levels later when you just get the DR-bypassing +3 enhancement bonus, though.
3) A buff, although you still wind up paying twice as much for your weapons with a lower cap on the maximum effect.

I'm not going to look upon this with disdain, although I'm disappointed that it's all very minor. I'm not as familiar with the PF Monk to comment on how this changes things, but for the 3.5 Monk it wouldn't really make a difference.

Everything Garryl said.  Very minor changes and correction of that abominable call on flurry, monk is still the weakest class by far and needs a lot more work, and AoMF is still unfairly priced and body slotted.

Actually, the price change might be kind of broken for monsters / druids / etc....  it was already a good buy if you had several natural weapons, now it's even cheaper.

Unexpected, but pretty welcome. I wouldn't sweat it about druids though, they can get their own natural weapon enhancements fairly easily. The Summoner's Eidolon might be another matter.

I guess the noise got too much and they had to fix it.

I'm tempted to call a betting pool on how long it will be before SKR revokes the un-nerfs. Personally, I give it a week or two.

I thought basically the same thing. What a douche.

Revoke? Nah. It's too public a change, I think. He'll probably find another class ability to attack instead.

Not much left FOR him to undermine in the class though.

Movement speed and slow fall. Perhaps Diamond Body and Soul.

He'll probably go more subtly around doing it, by introducing yet more very bad archetypes.

You lose Wis to AC when flat-footed and Stunning Fist only works on humanoids.
For movement speed, the bonus speed only counts once a round even if you double move. Slow Fall can't be used if you're holding anything. Ki strike takes a swift action to turn on because:

Having had experience with SKR before... those are hypothetical nerfs, right? Not stuff he has already done?

They're hypothetical, but I wouldn't be surprised to see any of them from him.
