"Alright."

Søffå uses a small amount of water from his skin to clean his boot once more; seemingly satisfied, he removes a torch and flint, in preparation for the descent.

He turns to the rogue:  "I have never done anything like this before; and be it brave or foolish I cannot tell.  Perhaps you have some experience, or are otherwise more familiar with the dark places of this land than I?  What council might you offer?"

"I will protect us from the back, if that is how we are forming up."

The flagstone stairwell descends into darkness though it is clear from the surrounding area, trampled grass, a lack of cobwebs in the stairwell, worn walkway spots, that many have passed through this way. The cooler moist air of the descent beckons you in reprieve of the oppressive heat and sun outside.

Seeing that the stairwell appears deserted, Søffå lights his torch.  "Shall we?"  He draws his blade and enters the passage.

Moving through the doorway behind Søffå Gamesh focuses as his eyes adjust to the torch light.

His hammer ever at the ready, Dunor follows down. He was grateful for the torch, not possessing the superior vision of the Dwarves or Elves.

Dalanath stays close to Dunor knowing that his friend will protect him.

On the second landing of the stairs the voices below become apparent to each of you. Damp moldering air fills your nostrils and the darkness closes in on the torchlight.

Søffå quietly stops to listen.  He strains to understand what is being spoken, by whom, and by how many.

As the voices get louder Dalanath whispers to the group, "Shall I go scout it out?"

Gamesh nods at Dalanath, readying himself for the battle he knows is imminent.  He whispers, struggling somewhat to be so close to the enemy but yet stay his hand "Be swift, there is little time."

Nodding in return, drawing his dagger as he starts to sneak down the stairwell.
