Chamber of Flame Unbound Round 5 Results!

Not wanting to test the flames power and with little options of targets Atanos backs up the stairs and takes a seat about 6 steps in for a brief rest.

Those close to the door can hear the flapping of feet on stone as Tkanz disappears into the darkness of the hallway.

Xer slips through the door and sets off at a run as well following his fellow goblin into the darkness.

"They're going to warm someone named Nrogut, we can't let them get away!" Thespias rushes past the door and moves right up to the edge of where the hall goes pitch black.

"Then let us waste no more time!  We must not allow these creatures to amass in numbers." Gamesh rushes across the room and braces himself against the closed door, preparing for a bolt if it comes out of the darkness.

Dalanath moves in behind everyone else, after the beating he just took he is not going to lead anyone anywhere.

Dunor takes up defense of the doorway along with his newest ally, the dragonborn. Shield raised, he calls out to the halfling, "I admire your bravery, Theo, but we have wounded who are staying put and you'll only get yourself hurt out there! The goblins know this structure better, it isn't wise to run into their traps!"

Søffå stands his ground and peers into the blackness for any signs of the enemy.  He prepares to strike anything that moves....

The braziers continue to move on their path and release their flame.

Round 5 Ends!

"Oh, if we must go on without rest, then so be it. the elven cleric says as he hauls himself up and trots to the door to take his place among the group.

The halfling stops in frustration, small sparks popping from his clutched hands.
"Fine, I'm not leaving you unprotected when you're wounded."

"A good choice, we should not separate too far." Atanos says as the Halfling returns. He sets about treating the injuries during the fight. Some with healing magic, the more minor wounds with more mundane practices. "Which door should we go through now?"

You now have time to notice above each door is a small plaque with ancient letters carved into it. Above the west door the goblins had escaped though is;

Above the North door is;

and above the West door is;

After having stood guard over his companions, Theo speaks:
"I think we need to keep up with the fleeing goblins, better to know where they went than to turn our back on them."

   Seeing the hesitation in his companions, Søffå decides to act.  He slowly turns and walks back toward the stairs from which they entered.

   At the foot of the stairs he stops; Søffå reaches down to grab the still burning bitumen torch and returns to the group.

   "An old man once told me: 'Heroes go where others fear to tread'; Well, shall we prove our worth?".  Søffå redraws his sword and plunges himself into the darkness.

The torchlight has an immediate effect on the darkness of the passage. It bleeds away from the light as you enter and reveals that the route turns to the left not far in. Around the corner you spot a faint blue glow up and ahead. The edge of the torchlight reveals a stairwell ahead rising up toward the glow.

Standing up Gamesh picks up his makeshift weapon and slips into the corridor behind Søffå and hisses back to his companions: Take caution; they know that we are here and confronting them in this corridor may lead to an advantage on either side.

"The plan? I guess the plan is we hunt these things down. That's good enough for me."

Dunor moves to the hallway.

Gripping his club, Gamesh slips up toward the door, ready to face the creatures that meant to enslave him.

The party creeps further down the hall, the edge of the torchlight revealing the base of a stairwell. The closer to the dim blued pulsing light up and ahead you gain, the more hissing faint sounds you are able to make out.

As each ascends the steps and you can see more of the room the origin of the blue pulsing glow is a set of runes on the floor. In the dim light they give off you can make our alcoves carved into the walls.

Out of the darkness, low to the floor a set of eye reflects the light and a small drake steps close to the runes, and then another, and soon many appear. At Dunor and Gamesh setting foot into the room they all suddenly hiss as one and leap at the two warriors.
