There's always debt collection.  No one really likes to do that, it often gets dumped on the rookies because it so often leads to ambush.

he places a number of vials of various poisons and a single vial of sewerm poison into his pouch, before checking in with his contacts to find out who specifically 'owes' money

Blackbird collects names, and there's a very likely candidate: Durth Fronsten, a dragon breeder, owes a considerable amount of money, and is currently attempting to expand his business.  The Family has been waiting for just the right time to collect, hoping to acquire some dragon eggs or young.

Blackbird starts heading towards the shop of Durth, keeping an eye out for anyone suspicious, he stops across the street and watches for a little bit until there are no customers in the shop.

he then heads in, then when he sees Durth, says while sharpening his poisoned knife as a vague threat

so... you've been avoiding paying us... well i want the money and some dragon eggs in compensation for the.... inconvenience of this whole thing.

is that a baby dragon i hear? that might do too
