Sun School Snapkick and Shadow Pounce
« on: March 22, 2013, 01:31:49 PM »
I'm currently running a character who has the -

Sun School - feat (the transport =instant attack part is what im addressing today)

Snap Kick (extra attack when you attack at a penalty)

and Shadow Stride (50' tele as a move action)

He now has the option to possibly pick up Shadow Jaunt and/or Shadow Blink. Or possibly Shadow Pounce ... any way ... on to my question(s)

So far I have been using Shadow stride to appear next to a target then attacking it once because of Sun School and then once more because of snap kick. Then I have been ending my turn, I believe i have been cheating mt self out of one or more additional attacks.

1) SO ...  Should I ... after Stride(move)Attack(Sun),Attack(snap) be able to Attack(Standard)Attack(snap)?

netting me 4 attacks after the Shadow Stride move action teleport?

2) If so then If I gain Shadow blink I could  Blink(swift)+Attack+Attack,  Stride(move)+Attack+Attack, Standard-Attack+Attack.  TOTAL 6 attacks correct?

3) Additionally If I Gain Jaunt I would not gain further attacks but could use the SunSchool+SnapKick on 3 different targets ... Blink+Attack+Attack  Stride+Attack+Attack Jaunt+Attack+Attack TOTAL 6 attacks correct?

4)Could the Wiz ACF abrupt Jaunt also be added to this chain as the Abrupt tele is an immediate Action allowing another Sun School and Snap Kick attack? Totaling 8 attacks in one round (within range and such)
Or does using the Wiz ACF use up one's swift action? then preventing the available Swift Shadow blink.

Part B -
1B) How would Shadow pounce interact with the above feats? For illustration we will assume I have BAB/Flurry allowing 4 attacks per round.

Would the character get 6 (4BaB+1Sun+1Snap) attacks per teleport? Teleporting up to 4 times for 24 attacks?

***EDIT*** OR as a GM do you limit the use of Snapkick and or shadow pounce to once per round? ***

It seems I may have created a potential Multi-Shadow pouncer with this character with out setting out to do so from the start.

Thanks for your time

I believe RAI, Snap Kick is supposed to be limited to once per round.  But you're obviously going by RAW.  So, in that case, the -2 penalty will stack.  3 snap kicks in a round means -6 to all attacks.  Depending on the power level of the game, as a DM, I would make one of those two rulings.

No, you cannot use as swift action and immediate action on the same turn.  An immediate action uses up your next turn's swift action, so if you use an immediate during your turn, that's the turn that loses its swift action.  You could use the immediate action right after your turn, using up your swift action for your next turn, however...

Where is Shadow Pounce from?
What do I win?
An awesome-five for mentioning Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

I figured there is a decent chance either I or my DM would rule snapkick to work something like that.

Shadow pounce is a class ability given by at least two prestige classes(probably the only "official" ones), The Telflammar Shadow Lord from Unapproachable East and Crinti Shadow Marauder from Shining South gain Shadow Pounce, It allows a full attack after a teleport or dimension door, although im not 100% sure if is explicitly one or the other or both movement modes that would activate it.

I know this is the  Min/Max board, ..  But Other than super optimized groups or theoretical builds do many DMs allow these type of shennanigans  :D

I know ksbsnowowl had a post a I saw a while back that was talking about Shadow pouncing, If you see this... how did this work out for you and your group?

Anyone else who has tabled a pouncer similar to this feel free to chime in also.
