This Noob is back.... Need help with a build for 3.5.
« on: April 03, 2013, 06:18:21 AM »
The build is a Shadowdancer Assassin...
http://dungeons.wikia.com/wiki/Shadowdancer,_Assassin_Variant_(3.5e_Prestige_Class)

Last I was on I was in search of a fighter... then turned to a wizard and loved it till game ended. DM didn't have time. Now he is back and wizard slot is already filled. Instead of light I want darkness. I haven't been able to find a build for what I want other than on another web site that someone made up but it is the best build I can find to what I want to play... Any help? I am really looking for a rogue like melee class that can shift from shadows and be like the assassin. I know this could be accomplised through gear but would prefer to keep this the benifite from the build and then smother the icing on the cake with gear.   If this helps:

Starting lvl 9
Starting gold 36K
Books:
DMG
PHB
MM
FRCS
PGtF
SpC

He said he is open to more content.... After looking it over I didn't like it as much as the link I provided. But is that build on the link pieced together or somewhere in a book? I can't seem to find it.

The one you linked is a homebrew prestige class..and a little on the overpowered side i must say after just looking briefly at it.

If you want that type of character, look at Tome of Battle, Swordsage class, taking mainly Shadow Hand maneuvers, i think you can accomplish all you want just with that ^^

i like the idea of using telflammar shadowlord.  even better if flaws are allowed

human shadow walker template

1 rogue  blind fight, dodge, mobility, light adaptation
2 rogue
3 rogue telling blow
4 fighter  power attack
5 fighter  cleave
6 assassin spring attack
7 sword sage (shadow hand maneuvers, including shadow jaunt)
8 telflammar shadowlord
9 telflammar shadowlord  craven
10 telflammar shadowlord
11 telflammar shadowlord
12 sword sage  improved initiative
13 sword sage
14 sword sage
15 ??  improved critical
16??
17??
18 ??
19??
20 ??

take the other teleport maneuver, get some items that give you teleports, and you can get multiple full attacks in one round and you have a build in "dark side"

I really like the idea of being a shadow... Disappearing in one and appearing in the next... Thief... Assassin... All around deadly. Oh and of course throwing a lot of dice.
