What would I become?
« on: April 30, 2013, 12:40:50 AM »
I was playing a kobold druid that dies when destroying one artifact with another. Question I have is what is the most likely undead that my character would have become? I am not looking to break the character any farther (venerable kobold druid....already broken), mearly wondering what the most likely version of undead others think I would have become and if it would be sentient enough to continue being playable.

The simplest solution would be to simply apply the necropolitan template (Libris Mortis).  Your character's creature type would change to undead (dragonblooded, reptilian).  You'd have a Con score of - and you'd gain undead traits.  Nothing else about the character would change - no HD, no LA, no other modifications, no muss, no fuss.

If you have the Dragonwrought Kobold feat, that might introduce some type weirdness with the template, but you might refer to the "type pyramid" from Savage Species to help resolve that issue.  That would result in the dragon type being overruled by your transformation into an undead.  Consult with your DM on what will work best for your game.

That requires a ritual, I was thinking i might become a ghost. since I am dragon wrought wouldn't that make me a ghostly dragon? and would spells (like grasping vines) work on corporeal creatures?

For necropolitan, I'd just ask your DM to waive the ritual and say you became that way through the destruction of the artifact.  That's way cooler, after all.

You would qualify for the ghostly dragon template by virtue of the Dragonwrought Kobold feat, as the template can be applied to any dragon.  Be forewarned, however: the template carries as +5 level adjustment and would be a substantial power boost.  As for spellcasting, that's explained in the section of the template for Manifesting on page 163 of the Draconomicon.

I would want to know what artifacts were involved.
