Question on warlock's hideous blow
« on: June 25, 2012, 10:10:40 PM »
Would the Hideous Blow invocation get overpowered if a DM allowed it to get iterative attacks like eldritch glaive does, wanting it to be more useful on later levels?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Edit: Just be sure to have him strip off the attack of opportunity that Hideous Blow provokes.

To elaborate a bit on these answers: No, not at all.

Oh, that is sweet. I'll ask my DM and if he disagrees, I'll offer to disallow attacks of opportunity =D

(the best diplomacy is out-of-game diplomacy hahaha)

P.S: By the way, Bozwevial, bowties are just cool.

This would only even remotely approach problematic if you went out of your way to crank up your blast damage with hellfire warlock and legacy champion, and even then it's something you can do with Eldritch Glaive already. You're trading the ability to make touch attacks for the extra damage afforded by the attack itself, which honestly might be an unfair trade to you even with iterative attacks.

And you're right, bowties are cool.

Wait, people don't already have this as a houserule?

Most people are content not to fiddle with things like this on the whole, even if there's a warlock in play.

Besides even then who's actually going to use it? Glaive is still vastly superior.

Edit: This statement has been revoked.

You could do it with natural weapons then.  Eldritch Theurge polymorphed into a 12-headed hydra, rocking Xd6 eldritch blast on top of it with each attack.

Oh yeah... load up on the natural attacks, get some reach, cast wraith strike, go to town.

I take back my previous statement.
