Low level Artificer question...
« on: August 16, 2013, 11:39:33 PM »
I'm playing an Eberron campaign with Action Points and all, and was wondering if I could cast the Weapon Augmentation, Personal spell twice. First to apply the corrosive enhancement onto a masterwork crossbow. Second to apply the Earth Elemental Power (Large) to that same crossbow. Would that work?

No.  The most recent casting would overwrite the first one, just like the general rule for spells and powers.  In this case it would mean the Corrosive enhancement would disappear, meaning the Earth Elemental Power (Large) would also disappear since that's dependent on Corrosive.

What Jack said. Basically they're bonuses from the same source and therefore don't stack.

You could get a crossbow bayonet, then cast Earth Elemental Power (large) on the Bayonet. Then cast Corrosive on the crossbow. Then you can use both powers whilst holding the crossbow. i.e. Summon an Earth Elemental and have Corrosive Bolts.

Actually, I wonder how this interacts with [Synergy] special abilities. IIRC, when you put the next level of a [Synergy] WSA on a weapon, the prerequisite disappears.
