Force Dragon as a PC
« on: October 28, 2013, 03:57:15 PM »
I asked oslecamo out of utter curiousity what a Force dragon would look like as a PC and it looks good IMO.  Though as Os and my GM says is that the Force Dragon is about the big numbers, and my GM believes there is alot to keep track of and if I could fulfill when to do the stuff correctly.  But due to the fact winter is coming in the next few weeks part of me really wants to play a dragon, but my players think a dragon isnt worth it.  But anyways, what would you guys do to make this character awesome? if I do decide to do a Force Dragon?.

I am debating if gear is superior to VOP but one of the players is making insane use out of Belt of Battle.

But the group is made of a Mindstealer (oslecamo made it but the GM is tweaking it), a Occassional Fire elemental, occassional earth elemental, and a Force Golem (Both made by oslecamo).  Then my brother not sure what hes doing, and a wizard.  We are level 6 but may be level 7 by now.  I am not sure what to do.

ITs either this...http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=11655.msg198310#msg198310 or trying my hand at a psion again.  But I have till sunday to get this figured out.

So far where we are, we are dealing with alot of undead.

I wonder ...  :plotting ... if a Force Dragon
could walk right through a Force Golem?

Immune to Force (Ex)
A force dragon cannot be harmed by any force effect, including magic missiles, explosive runes, mage’s sword, the sphere spells, or any other spell or effect with the Force descriptor. **It can move freely through barriers made of force, such as a wall of force.

(so anyway)

Pick one of the Dragons in here
http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=3070.0

Dragon X / Ardent 2 / UrPriest 2 for undeading / Psychic theurge 7 or 8 / ABC y if necessary
LA buy-off when as normal.  Pick a few ToB things too.
Plenty of Force -type powers to pick for the flavor.

Which is why HD draining should never be allowed. Use my ECL variant instead.

But anyways, what would you guys do to make this character awesome? if I do decide to do a Force Dragon?.

Some random thoughts:

Full BAB, D12 HD
1st level:  3 natural attacks, Con to AC (high Con)
4th level:  5 attacks per full attack!  Flight.
6th level:  6 attacks per full attack, Growth = reach

To summarize, since your seem to be starting at 6th level...
  • 6 attacks with full attack
  • Con & Cha to AC (see Deflecting Force)
  • Flight
  • Growth = reach

After 6th level, I think the benefits are less extreme (and you lose a caster level).  I'd say Force Dragon 6/Something else 14.

You could start as a pretty effective "wade into melee" type, especially if you find ways of stacking in some extra damage (Arcane Strike can be ok, when you cast a sorcerer with many spell slots, and you have 6 attacks a round at a low level).

only costs 2K gold

Note:  Ask your DM to let Force Dragon grant Psionic casting instead of Arcane if you desire.

You could also spend a feat: Exotic Caster

Then stack with Ardent or Psion.

Gear is superior.  Look at Bunko's:

Yep gear is superior.

Plus, think about a Dragon w VoP.
That's like total violation of everything d&dragon.

I just put together a level 6 character leaving off 1 level for whatever class I decided to go into.  Turns out that after some contemplating you could potentially take Fist of the Forest to get Con to AC 2x :P, and then the HOARD feat to get a total of +6 to both str and con, which increases damage all together and con to AC 2x.

My worry is that with such a insane Cha, how could you get Cha to Saves without! taking 2 levels of paladin ?
