As the title says I'm here for advice and chat, only been playing d&d 3.5 for a few month once a week spellcasters are a pain to get down right, were just about to reset and do a campaign in a large city and my class choice is urban ranger esque/ ex watchman.

I'd recommend asking around in the Gaming Advice subforum for help.

If you're asking more for build advice, I'd point you to Min/Max 3.x for advice.  Keep in mind that even if you don't do min-maxing, the place can be good for designing a competent character and is geared towards making sure you pick the right choices for your character.
