Masking my goals.
« on: November 19, 2011, 08:21:51 PM »
Ok, so my uncle is running a Forgotten Realms 3.5 campaign (although he allows most stuff from campaign settings.) We are currently at 6th level. I feel like my character may need to leave the party before to long. (backstory thing, not too important here) and I was trying to work on a replacement. I was thinking that Master of Masks (CSc) sounds interesting, but I can't come up with a build that could actually take advantage of it. So, with that, I leave it to you guys for some tips. /bow

How many levels do you want in Master of Masks because typically a one-level dip is seen as somewhat okay for the Gladiator mask.

Also what books and stats do you have access as well as what is your party's composition?

aah. I knew I forgot something.

I have basically all of 3.5 open. Although non FR campaign settings, online stuff, and Dragon require case-by-case permission.
I haven't done stats yet, but we do rolled 4d6b3

My party is:
A ninja, specifically a ninja with some weird templates. Surprisingly high damage, and can hold his own reasonably well
Half-minotaur Dwarven Cleric, a Tank style character, and good at it
Half-vampire Aasimar Sorcerer, very much out of combat focused. charm-gaze etc...
A gnomish Nightmare Spinner. (thinking about making a new one, which is why I'm working on a new one.)

I have no preference as to number of levels. I'm hoping to get build ideas here, so I'm good for 1+ levels, although I would prefer larger numbers if possible.

Well it seems like your party could use two different things, a dedicated battlefield mage or a dedicated warrior.

Which path would you care to take?

I'm fine with either. Although neither of those are roles I've done before.

I'd lean towards warrior in this case, because we need that more than we need a mage.

In that case, what kind of 'warrior' would like to play? There's quite a bunch of ways to go about it, and you could always do the magic too and Gish it up.

Hey, this is as specific as I'm going. Anything interesting is fine by me.

I'll just throw this link (Handbook Index) here then; won't invest more time for now since there's next to no information to work with.

I'd say more if I could, but going into melee is so far from anything I've played so far, I'm at a loss.

That's why he gave you the handbook link.  Read up and figure out what play style of melee you want.  Helping you will be a lot easier when you have more of an idea what you want.

lets see...

Tripping could be interesting
Grappling would be cool
A Gish sounds closest to my style
I would not complain if it had levels in Factotum
and the more off the wall the better.

This help?

Factotum 20
Factotum 18/Swordsage 2
Factotum 11/Chameleon 9
Factotum 3/Warblade 17
Factotum 3/Barbarian 1/Cleric 1/Chameleon 10/Factotum 5

Factotums galore off the top of my head.

I do remember saying I wanted to use the Master of Masks prestige class, if possible.
