"Your suggestion of a reflective surface had merit," the Knight ponders.  "And I still say that if we are in some kind of maze or labyrinth, it would be as well for us to come up with a scheme to ensure we do not backtrack."

"Unfortunately, I doubt any of us has a mirror.  If I had my compact, I would have applied make up by now, but I'm fairly certain none of us has one.  And while Holly does have a rather large sword, I would refrain from exploring a helpful Beast's lair with weapons drawn."  Louise leans against a wall.  "As for backtracking, this dungeon seems to enjoy ensuring that you do not.  Or was your path not periodically closing off behind you?"

"We, uh, just got walked in," I put in. "As much as it pains me to say it, though, we're probably going to want to rely on stealth. No random screaming, sort of thing. If she is actually Medusa, we...really want to know where she is either before or at the same time that she knows where we are. Even if she's helpful, it's...just a good idea."

The Knight considers for a moment.  "What about the Knife?" he suggests.  "Clearly, we do not want to walk in brandishing a weapon, as Lady Louise says, but I see nothing wrong with holding one up.  Perhaps partially out of its sheathe in such a manner as to not be easily able to draw it.  Such a thing should not be threatening and should allow us to look around corners."

I give Coryknight a confused look. "How does a knife let you look around corners? Do you think you can cut your line of sight and--"

My brain catches up to my mouth at this point. "Oh, right. Smooth, polished metal."

"I'm not sure if that was his intent Becca...  But I'm not sure.  I still think that it may state the wrong intention.  Unless you wish to fight with the Green Beast, we should not proceed with weapons out.  Holy, does this area affect your powers enough that you wouldn't be able to warn us if we were near the Green Beast?"

"wouldn't it also work if we just looked at the floor as we walked?"  Louise began edging towards the passageway

"Louise? Kind of done with your shit over here. When I want to go in and do something, it's reckless. When you want to, it's because there's clearly no danger. When I want to analyze the situation and proceed with caution, I'm being senselessly paranoid. When you want to, it's because you're being tactical. So, yeah, fuck you. You got me killed, and somehow you still know how to proceed in this situation because...why, exactly?"

I give her the finger.

"You do not make decisions for me. We talk until we reach a consensus. Now, get your ass back over here. It doesn't have to be a knife. The fact that you don't think it should be a knife does not mean we can't find some kind of reflective object."

I attempt to give the finger to this mysterious voice. However, since I'm unaware of its source, I setting for flipping off the ceiling. God probably did something to deserve it.

Louise flushes red, ready to snap back, but the voice interrupts her.  She turns, regarding the direction of the voice.  "Is that You, Green Beast?  I'd like to ask to settle a dispute we seem to be  having.  Is it safe to proceed with our eyes open?"

I make a mental note to resume the conversation with Louise later. She does not get to hide behind monsters and try to get them to fight her battles for her.

"Okay, so what's the gimmick this time?" I ask.

???: Do you really think your eyes are open?  Do you really think your eyes are closed?
???: That's funny~  It really is~

???: As for gimmicks, its a maze, isn't it?  You're supposed to walk it, seeking the end.
???: Standing still is a solution too, though~  Whether you move or not move, that isn't really my problem~
???: It isn't my world at risk, after all.

???: But a friend of yours asked me for a favor.
???: So I decided to move things forward for you~

???: Here I am, the Beast at the center of the maze!
???: The Medusa who is willing and ready to answer your questions!
Medusa: So ask away~
