Class FeaturesWeapon and Armor Proficiency
Word archons are proficient with simple weapons, two martial weapons of their choice and light and medium armors.
Archon body
At first level, you lose all other racial bonuses and gain the outsider traits. The word archon is a medium sized outsider with base speed of 30.
A word archon also gains a bonus to its natural armor equal to it's Con modifier.
Heavenly Words
The word archon can use true name magic as if it was a truenamer of its class level. She knows her own True Name and may use Truespeak as a Charisma-based skill check and uses Charisma for the DC their effects.
If a word archon takes levels in the truenamer class or prestige classes that progresses true name magic, she may choose to have them progress this class' true name magic.
Ability increase
The word archon gains +1 Cha at levels 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9; she gains +1 Con at levels 2, 4, 6 and 8; for a total of +4 Con at level 8 and +5 Cha at level 9.
Archon
The word archon becomes immune to petrification and gains a resistance to electricity equal to its HD and a bonus to saves against poison equal to half it's HD. They also gain the good and lawful subtype and its natural attacks and any weapon it wields count as good and law aligned for bypassing DR.
Aura of Menace (Su)
A righteous aura surrounds archons that fight or get angry. Any hostile creature within a 20-foot radius of an archon must succeed on a Will save to resist its effects. The save DC is 10+HD+Cha modifier. Those who fail take a -2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura. A creature that has resisted or broken the effect cannot be affected again by the same archon's aura for 24 hours.
Word made Flesh
At 3rd level the word archon gains DR/evil equal to half her HD, and SR equal to 11+HD. At 6 HD the DR improves to DR/evil and magic. She may rise or lower her SR at any time as a free action even if it isn't her turn. She is also permanently affected by a Protection from Evil effect, which upgrades to a Magic Circle against Evil effect at 5 HD. This effect is centered on the her.
Flight
At 4th level, the word archon gains the ability to fly at a speed of 10 foot per HD with good maneuverability. The parchment papers spreading behind her back now takes the shape of wings (any piece cut instantly grows back to full length).
Spoken in Tongues
At 5th level, the word archon gains the ability to speak a primal language that is understood by every creature that has a language. She understands every language.
Additionally, the word archon gains a racial bonus to Truespeak checks equal to half her HD.
Speak and Hear no Evil (Su)
At 6th level, the word archon continuously emanates a silence effect that prevents any creature within 5-ft. per 2 HD from speaking the vocal components of Evil spells or using any ability dependent on being heard that creates an Evil-aligned effect. Any sonic, telepathic or language-dependent effect that is evil-aligned or made by an evil creature is also silenced within its area of effect. Evil creatures within this aura are Silenced as per the spell. She may use a free action to reduce its radius or suppress this ability for 1 round.
Words of Creation
At sevent level, the word archon gains Words of Creation (BoED p.48) as a bonus feat. Her true name magic effects are now all good-aligned.
She can use the benefits of this feat's Creation effect to increase the duration of her true name magic effects by 1 round. Those with a duration of instantaneous aren't affected.
She can use the feat's Exalted Power effect to increase her true name magic's effective caster level by 1 as if it was a spell.
If the word archon already has the Words of Creation feat, she speaks the words fluently and effortlessly. She no longer suffers nonlethal damage for using the feat and the duration of her true name magic is doubled. She also no longer risks misspeaking her utterances while within a silence effect. If she did not already have the feat, she may spend a feat to improve Words of Creation as described.
Sacred Word (Su)
At 8th level, the word archon learns a powerful word that dooms the one it is spoken to as anathema. She may use this word a number of times per day equal to her Charisma modifier.
This word is a Demoralize Opponent use of the Intimidate skill, except that it uses a Truespeak check instead.
A creature shaken by the Sacred Word suffers a -4 penalty on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws for 1 round. If you know the creature's True Name, it is instead shaken for a number of rounds equal to your Charisma modifier and may be affected by her Aura of Menace again even if it has already saved against it or broken its effect.
If the creature is evil or undead, the word also deals it divine damage equal to the result of the Truespeak check. The word archon may only use this ability more than once per 24 hours on the same target if it is affected by her Aura of Menace.
If the creature is an evil outsider and you know its True Name, the sacred word also acts as a dimensional anchor and seals its essence in whichever plane it currently is. If the evil outsider is killed while affected, it does not reform in its home plane and truly dies.
By Thy Name I Judge Thee (Su)
At 9th level, the word archon can learn the True Name of a creature or object that she can see by looking through its very essence to read it. As a full round action, she can discover the target's true name as if she researched it (if she succeeds on the checks required).
If she fails to discover the True Name, the target becomes immune to this ability for 24 hours.
Additionally, learning the true, primal identity of so many things as deepened her knowledge of the world. She gains a bonus on all Knowledge checks equal to half her HD.
At HD 12, she can learn the True Name of a creature with a standard action instead of a full-round action.
At HD 15, she can learn the True Name of a being with a move action.
At HD 20, she can learn the True Name of a being with a swift action.
Archon Teleportation
The word archon can use teleport as a SLA 1/day for each 4HD it has. At 13 HD, this ability upgrades to greater teleport. She can transport only herself and up to 50 pounds of objects.
Comments:
The word archon focuses on spreading the good word. She's pretty much only an armored archon truenamer with nothing special going for her. She was also denied the teleportation ability common to all archons for some reason, so I fixed that.
I also gave it a better Tongues ability since it felt right a celestial that's all about words would be better at it than her fellows.
Since her core strategy seems to hinge around using truenaming and going into melee battle to fight and tank I gave her some abilities to help her such as Hear and Speak no Evil and Sacred Word.
As normal to celestial creatures I gave it an extra edge against evil as they are champions of Good before anything else.
So if you want to play a very verbose celestial that calls everyone (true) names, the word archon is for you!
