I would love to see the horned devil in monster classes.

Hornde Devils are the big red ones that're like CR20 with red scales, tails, wings, and big horns on their heads right? Cause if so I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) that they're also called Pit Fiends, and that there's already a class for 'em. Again, could be ENTIRELY wrong there though, so sorry if I am.

Dire Rat would be a 1 level monster class. Rats prolly too small.

Infact we just need like 50 more 'Were-" templates or one very easily convertable one for any animal archetype. Sounds incredibly pick&choose-y, with potentially going into creating werebominations with cross-species abilities like some sort of mutant Ani-morph reject

I think Anthropomorphic Animal plus the Deceivingly Innocent Form feat (or more accurately, the Alternate Form feat created by Prime32) should be sufficient for most lycanthropic creatures of other sorts, assuming you build the AA properly. With that Alternate Form feat, you can even treat the alternate form as your "true form" which fits the concept better.

For the were-ooze, just pick Awakened Gelatinous Cube and Alternate Form.

• Combine Monster Class + Alternate Form feat
• RP changing to any of the Monster class forms only during full moons and when under duress (if 'Afflicted'; Ignore this if 'Natural' lycanthrope)
• ??

Like the intelligent item, this thing looks like an object, though it isn't necessarily meant to be equipped and can do stuff on its own.
It would make it possible to play one the Beast's servants, Aladdin's carpet, a witch's broom or one of Fantasia's bucket-carrying brooms or maybe even Two Flower's almighty Luggage!

As for the Rat/Dire Rat, wouldn't it make sense to have a Dire Animal template instead? That way we wouldn't have a Dire monster class variant for every animal out there.

Standardization for standardization's sake is not the way we work around here. There's 19 weremonsters and 30 dragons (soon to be 32 once I get a final look over the binding ones). Otherwise there would be a single monster class and I would just keep piling in stuff.

Not to mention the death of all the wonderful flavour, both currently present and potential for future classes. Who wants to play a class that just provides boring, generic buffs? That's what a generalized Dire Template would have to be. Either that, or such a mess of abilities with various prerequisites that it may as well be broken down into individual PrCs.

Not necessarily. It doesn't have to be trashed nor does the one template has to be soulless. For the same reason there isn't a separate Monster/Creature of Legend class for every monster out there and what is available to them all isn't what I'd consider soulless. Similarly, many creatures have monster prestige classes and it could be considered one, or simply a variant in the same manner some monsters here have more than one version.
It wouldn't have to affect existing Dire classes simply by having the prerequisite that the base monster must not already have another Dire monster class. And just like that, we don't need a custom dire version for every single animal out there, only specific ones people care particularly about. There we go.

Honestly, out of all the things you could ask a generic version of, why did you pick dire? It's basically the least creactive concept. At core it's just making the monster bigger/stronger. That's the only common element it would make sense having for a generic version. But you already have the tools to do that. Just slap barbarian/titanic levels on it and call it a day.
