Diseases Effects Stacking vs Overwritting
« on: February 27, 2012, 06:45:46 PM »
Some diseases leave effects after or because of the infection and aren't clear when the infection is over.

The question is do the effects of the same disease stack if there is enough time passed between infections to assumably otherwise allow other effects of that disease?

Or do the effects of one infection overwrite previous instances of that same disease (making them not 'stack' unless otherwise stated)?

The rules seem pretty clear on when a disease is over.  Two successful Fort saves in a row most of the time, with exceptions such as three in a row for Devil Chills, and a Remove Curse first for Mummy Rot.  Which diseases are you having problems with?

Well, in this case, it kind of is.  It applies its one effect and that's it.  In this instance, if it were to be applied again, the effect would be random again, and if you get something that has already occurred, then the effect gets worse, if possible.  You can't get more blind or lose more than all your hair, but you can get an even longer tongue or grow a second vestigial tail.  Heck, if you get a 100, you roll twice, so it's like getting the disease twice.

So you mean to say, "Yes a disease's effect stacks if applicable."

Yes, I guess I do.  Nice, succinct summary.
