I haven't read all the way through this thread, but I just wanted to take a moment to thank you, X-Codes, for compiling all of this.

Bravo, sir! :clap  :clap

Yeah yeah double post....

Overwhelm + Elven Spell Lore = amazing!

How so? Overwhelm is the thing that deals nonlethal damage equal to the target's HP, right? What's Elven Spell Lore, and how does it work?

I think he intends to change that nonlethal damage to lethal energy damage, which I'm fairly confident wouldn't work.  There are a few monsters that deal "nonlethal electricity damage," and while Elven Spell Lore itself is very vaguely worded, it's got at least an FAQ entry limiting it's effects.

The spell is listed because it's, basically, a will-only Save-Or-Die, unlike Phantasmal Killer or Weird, which also allow fortitude saves.

It got errata'd. Originally, Elven Spell Lore changed a single spell's damage to ANY type, even weird ones. So, for example, Overwhelm would deal vile damage equal to their current hit points.

Now its only energy type to energy type.

But Energy Admixture seems to give you x nonlethal AND x energy damage!

[with Overwhelm]
Yeah, but doesn't the Will Negates saving throw kind of kill the combo?

Yeah, but there's no way I can think of to get rid of that

Wings of Flurry has been struck from the list, because apparently I can't even mention the damn spell without sending people into a mad-foaming pissy fit.

A few interesting spells you might have skipped over.

Discern Bloodline (RoD): Sure, it doesn't seem that good, but can show when creatures are disguised, which might be useful if you need to know why the troll disguised as an ogre isn't dying. Because disguise person can be annoying.

Wings of Swift Flying(RotD): Level 1, hours/level, So long as you have a fly speed, add 30 ft. Unless Dragonblood subtype or dragon type. Then it's +40 ft. Unnamed bonus.
It's Like expeditious Retreat for flight, but lasts for hours.

Also, I'm noticing PH is missing a section.
Out of net access for a bit. Should be back late monday.

The Ashstar spell from Sandstorm deserves a secondary note as a defensive buff for Marrulurks.  All marruspawn have Resist Dessication 10.  Once the friendly marruspawn has become immune to Fatigue, cast Ashstar and watch as it voluntarily fails all the saving throws and takes 10 less damage from everything.

Does this still live?

X-Codes has left the boards.
He said he'd still respond to PM's though, so if you or someone else wants to pick this up, they could just ask him for permission.

Of course we can.
But this was being set up in handbook / index fashion, and that isn't happening anymore here.

X-Codes has left the boards.
Why?
Click on X-Codes to visit his profile.

If you don't understand his line about "sick of these forums"...

You don't want to, but the rest of his post history reminds me of things, arguments and people I'd rather just forget.
As well as forget that that S*** was ever on these forums.

To be fair though, the other people who were involved have left too (actually, at the same time).

Shuffle (Conjuration (Teleportation), Druid 6, Sor/Wiz 6) - Note that this spell is accidentally awesome for anyone with a Familiar.  So, you cast this spell and pass it off to your familiar to be the toucher (it’s a touch-range spell, afterall).  As long as the familiar holds the charge, anyone the familiar touches gains the ability to teleport a short distance as a move action.  Note the target line: “One or more willing subjects.”  From what I can tell, that means that your familiar can just keep bestowing this spell effect on anyone it touches, and keep holding the charge, and keep granting this ability to the entire party all day (maybe even longer if the familiar doesn’t sleep).  Obviously not quite what was intended, but it’s up to your DM to impose a reasonable limit on the spell’s effect.  If it affects all your allies once, then it’s still a solid spell.
First off, I know that X-Codes left the board and that this thread is old. Secondly, this is complete and utter nonsense, and here is why:
Quote from: SRD/Spell Descriptions/Range
Touch
You must touch a creature or object to affect it. A touch spell that deals damage can score a critical hit just as a weapon can. A touch spell threatens a critical hit on a natural roll of 20 and deals double damage on a successful critical hit. Some touch spells allow you to touch multiple targets. You can touch as many willing targets as you can reach as part of the casting, but all targets of the spell must be touched in the same round that you finish casting the spell.
Quote from: SRD/Touch Spells in Combat
Holding the Charge
If you don’t discharge the spell in the round when you cast the spell, you can hold the discharge of the spell (hold the charge) indefinitely. You can continue to make touch attacks round after round. You can touch one friend as a standard action or up to six friends as a full-round action. If you touch anything or anyone while holding a charge, even unintentionally, the spell discharges. If you cast another spell, the touch spell dissipates.[...]
Quote from: SRD/Familiars
Deliver Touch Spells (Su)
If the master is 3rd level or higher, a familiar can deliver touch spells for him. If the master and the familiar are in contact at the time the master casts a touch spell, he can designate his familiar as the "toucher." The familiar can then deliver the touch spell just as the master could. As usual, if the master casts another spell before the touch is delivered, the touch spell dissipates.
