Review My Swordsage Please

I've always loved Swordsages, but I realized a few days ago that I've never used the class as anything more than a dip. So I set out to correct that. This is the fruit of my labor, but I know that there is always room for improvement. Please tell me what you think, and let me know how to make it better. Thank you!


Level Progression: Sword Sage 4/Fighter 2/Sword Sage +1/Master of Nine 5/Sword Sage +2/War Blade 5

Feats: Adaptive Style, Desert Wind Dodge, Stone Power, Vital Recovery, Evasive Reflexes, Combat Reflexes, Sudden Recovery

Bonus Feats: Improved Initiative [Human], Weapon Focus (Great Sword) [Sword Sage], Blind-Fight, Improved Unarmed Strike [Fighter], Iron Will [War Blade]

Unless you need the BAB, I would do Martial Rogue over Fighter.

And IMO Master of 9 costs way too many crappy feats for not much gained.  I'd just stick with swordsage.  Why the 5 Warblade levels at the end?

Don't see Stone Power being terribly useful to a non-Crusader, and Vital Recovery is rather weak.

If you do intend to stay w/ Mo9, why not be an Unarmed Swordsage and get IUS as a bonus feat?

OK, so you have a swordsage.  What's your plan?  What do you want to do with it?

If you can use Dragon Mag, Barbarian 1 would be better over Fighter. You can get Improved Unarmed Strike and Blind Fight as bonus feats at Lv1 with the City Brawler (Dra#349) and Dragon Totem (SRD/UA) Alternate Class Features, all while having the same BAB, Saves, a Better Hit Die, and still have access to Rage 1/day, which can be traded for another Alternate Class Feature or kept.

@StreamOfTheSky: I don't see why I would take Martial Rogue over Fighter. It gives less BAB and hp. I went with Mo9 because all of the other prestige classes in ToB are gimmicky or not usable without casting. If you have some suggestions to replace either that or the feats you mentioned, I'm all ears.

@sirpercival: I want to focus on maneuver use, mostly Stone Dragon and Diamond Mind with a little bit of Desert Wind thrown in for good measure. Are there ways to increase maneuver damage/effects beyond what I get from Swordsage?

Martial Rogue gives +6 skill points per level with a much better list and Evasion.  I'm wary of relying on HD rolls for hp anyway, and it's only 1 lower BAB.  I value the skills more, I guess.

I see your point, and I agree with you when you put it that way. I forgot all about evasion on a Martial Rogue
