How ironic. Holy water in most churches contains fecal bacteria.

I guess it's not surprising if people are constantly dipping their hands into it. Perhaps they should put a hand sanitizer pump on the font...

Actually, that was said at the aggregator where I got this.

Although, as ironic as I found the topic, it's really no weirder than mass handshaking that happens during passing the peace in many services. We seem to love to find ways to spread germs around in large groups.

It's not so bad if you just smear it on your forehead like most people do. I just feel sorry for the folks who like to cross themselves and then kiss the finger they dipped in the drink.

I remember this was on the news here too, and at least one priest said they were aware of the problem, but there's not really much to be done about it. It's kind of like the issue of how many people pee in public pools.

At least the public pools have sterilization thanks to chlorine and such.  That and urine is usually sterile anyway, so it's mostly the idea of ingesting it that puts most off, though it's a turn on for some.

Put a hand-sanitizer font right in front of the holy water font, and tell people they'll go to hell if they don't use the sanitizer one first.

Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

Procrastination is the thief of time; Year after year it steals, till all are fled,
And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

This is one of those stories that makes you go "eww".  And then you think about it, then you go "ewwwwwww".  And then you keep thinking about it, then you get really confused and go "eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww".  And then you die by throwing up so much that you drown your neighborhood.  Because WHY.  WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS.
