Playing D&D through internet visio chat

As time passes by, more and more of my gamers have to leave our motherland (or just go far enough that coming back for the night isn't worth it anymore) and feel doomed to forever leave our gaming group.

This has to stop !
Since binding them in iron and locking them up in a cellar is a legally grey solution, i found myself wondering :

Most of you have already experienced that, has any of you ever found a program capable of supporting DD ?
Ideally some sort of Audio-visio chat, with a common "white board" with with witch they could interact (like moving Dot-simulated characters ? My group is keen on keeping the visual aspect of the game)

There has to be a D&D programmer who thought of it...

We could also just strap a webcam to the chair, but it'd be quite basic..

Well, we just use Google docs and Skype simultaneously to get that exact effect.

Skype or Ventrilo or Gchat or whatever voice and/or video client you prefer + MapTools.

Well after reviewing all those awesome softwares, i've settled for map-tool, which seemed like the easiest to master, and has an excellent comunity.

roll20 app is what my group uses. That and vent for communications.

A G+ app designed specifically for online gaming.

Something inside me dies when I see the word fallacy applied to ideas held about roleplaying. And a small bit of vomit comes up when I see a character called a 'toon'.
