Be a rogue with Grave Strike, whether through a level of sorc/wiz, or a magic item.  Sneak attack them!

Do constructs still count as magical items after creation? Anyway to disable one long enough for an 5th level or higher artificer to eat them and gain their XP? ;D

Considering that they are unaffected by AMF, unlike magic items, I would have to say no.  Still, the idea of an artificer yelling at his allies because he wants them to disable the golem instead of kill it is a funny one.

Is this a continuation of that Astral Construct versus Fighter thread back on the old boards?
Yes. Yes it is.

Y'all can take over from here.  I lost interest, but this Fighter10 build taught me just how limited Fighters are.  They don't even get notable class features every level!

To add insult to injury, ACs are customizable for the task at hand, and any individual manifester can have several at once (the stupid nerfs in CPsi be damned).

Also, the AC in my build is only CR 10.

Well, the original idea was a fighter 10 vs a CR 10 astral construct. Adding in other variables just makes it more likely for me to lose, so I'm definitely against them. :p

CR 10 Astral Construct is very strong....

Huge Construct
19HD
50' Speed
+25 Natural Armor
15' Reach
2 traits from Menu C(Concussion Blast(7th ML) Free Action, Dimension Slide or Natural Invisibility)
43 Str
2 slams +28 melee (2d6+16)

thats a pretty tough opponent .... could be even tougher if you adjusted the Menu Choices with lower level choices and Feat picks

That, and the 3.5 constructor PrC, Boost Construct, and a nice crawling tattoo of Expansion can make it Gargantuan or Colossal. See this thread for details.

Just no construct-slaying weapons, please. After all, we already know that will work. Try something interesting?

are Buff Rounds required ... does the Fighter have to sit there while the Psion buffs himself ... or can he attack while the Psion is Buffing?

if Buff Rounds are required, this means the Astral Construct is only viable provided the Psion can Buff ..... correct?

I can get a high-level construct in other ways without buff-rounds, but the means to do so are slightly more finicky. They might not work in all campaigns, depending on how it's ruled. Like arcanist's gloves, and meta rods of Extend bound to the hands chakra. Stuff like that.

But no, this was just using what was given to me. Note that I only used one of the two buff rounds, and spent the second one waiting. Of course, since I have to wait a round for the AC to come in ANYWAY, then it does require some prep-time. But then, I also could've had it up before then, since my constructs last anywhere from 9-18 minutes at a time (1 min/lvl, or Extended to 2 min/lvl).

How about something like this:

42 point buy, two flaws (really doesn't matter which ones, as they won't affect anything either way -- Noncombatant and Vulnerable?), no traits.

Human
Fighter 10

Str(16)
Dex(18 +2 Lvls)
Con(16)
Int(14)
Wis(8 )
Cha(8 )

Feats: (13)
(click to show/hide)

Skills:
(click to show/hide)

Equipment
(click to show/hide)

Combat Performance:

+36 Attack bonus (+10 BAB +5 Dex +7 Enhancement +2WF/GWF +2 RWM +4 Insight +5 Law +1 Haste)

(+34/+34)/(+34/+34) /(+34/+34)/(+29/+29) Full Attack +Rapid Shot +Haste

20 Damage per arrow(Raptor) / 11 damage regular arrows
(1d10(5.5) +2d6(7) +7 Enhancement +2 WSpl +2 RWM +4 Insight)

124 damage/round, but can Move 60' as Swift Action

keep the distance .... your Prep-time is 0 if you want to Buff-as-you-go, except applying the GMW Oil ......

if the construct gets farther than 95' from the Psion, it loses the Share Pain effect.... but if you Target the Psion, he does not have the same benifit. Target the Psion first you should be able to drop him in a single round.... only fire some of the Arrows at the Psion, since if you shoot the rest at the Construct, the Shared Damage will take out the Psion.

the Construct will not have active Direction, so you should be able to maintain the distance

If you target the psion, he can target you.

You REALLY don't want to tangle with him directly...

And it's not fighter vs psion anyway, especially since you have no way of seeing his permanent invisibility. (And it's fighter vs construct anyway, not fighter vs construct + psion, else I could kill any fighter out there without too much trouble. Oh, and I have Vigor + Share Pain + Psicrystal up, along with Share Pain + Astral Construct)

Maybe we should move this to my thread instead?

Unless this is a general 'vs constructs' build.
