Giant... is the template I tend to use for growing humanoids with a long progression.

I mean, just taking out all spells shaves down the phb to what? 50 pages?
Just take out all spellcasting/spell casting related material. Will vastly simplify the game. Socket in a warlocks for arcane, and make lay on hands worthwhile to do healing... bam, your down to what? 40 pages?

would it be possible for me to get in on this? Thinking a Titan 12/ God 12, fluffed as Murphy, the god of mechanical failure. He lacks adherents, more acknowledged and feared by all mechanics(a massive population all of its own...).

Actually looking at the classes, they overlap scarcely well... especially for a chaotic god.

+1 slam for retaliation.

It just seems odd, as no other big thing with a big bludgeon does this.

ok, wait 150ft reach? the term is a thrown weapon with a 120ft range increment. Otherwise it sounds like a huge reach weapon... Might want to clarify the damage for the stone. isn't it like 5d6?

Also, BOTi seems a bit like a easy insta kill... why not hand out free awesome blow? Or a x4 crit...

This looks fun, but the throwing is funky. A flat range isn't cool... why not specify it is a throwing weapon with 120ft range increment(600ft at 5 range increments).

Started with The Titan... But it may be because the majority of my homebrew work has been base classes.

I found it nice to go through and pick out abilities from other classes that worked for what I had in mind. The majority of the Titan is from various giants, and the angel honestly.

What is a good level for fear immunity piercing?

But then you make magical crafting, which requires XP, irrelevant. I think the idea of having a super masterwork bonus that accept enchantments on top of it is overall a better idea. It makes mundanes relevant while at the same time benefitting magical crafting, because they can now have access to better base materials.

Or just make enhancement bonus come from mundane, and magic can just add special abilities.
Or make mundane cost XP to, like the caster is putting a bit of his soul into the item.

For crafting, you could just offer a feat with a craft (armor/weapons/bows) 8 ranks prereque, that allows you to craft magical arms and armor as extraordinary skill. They can only craft up to (ranks in the skill-3)/3 enhancement bonus.

Bam, you now have non magical crafter that matters.

General D&D Discussion / Re: Is SNA IX as silly as it looks?
« on: March 03, 2013, 02:26:13 PM »
The faeries have okay spell-like abilities but in general you are right the spell isn't that fantastic.

It just felt like a major disconnect... the SNA line felt like a way for the druid to call in some animals to swarm stuff. Admittedly you can just call in elementals, but still... weird.

the damage is a bit high... I would sugest making it nonlethal(or lethal if you are non lethal imune), and droping it to 1/2 class level. That or put in a recharge time.

Ok, looking at it again...

Prime, what is this? A linearly scaled class? why? It feels like a mobilaty fighter like the monk, but is tied to full attacks to deal real damage. It is a front line fighter with 3/4 BAB. It has levels were it just gets +1d6 damage on unarmed strikes. I mean really, DEAD LEVELS man DEAD LEVELS!

Mind if I retool this?

No class skills whatsoever? Not even Hide?  :huh

all undead have no class skills. It is, as they say, a thing.

Though I would allow the shadow to count as if it had full ranks in hide and move silently for prerequisites.

Something minor today, compared to, y'know, palm striking cars.

So I'm walking up to work, and we have this little space between the building and the fence proper that's kinda like a mini-garden with wooden logs people can sit down on. Lots of employees come there to relax in between shifts, and they usually gather there and talk at length during lunch break. I'm approaching a group of coworkers to greet them, and one of them, a smoker, is telling a story in a very enthusiastic fashion with lit cigarette in hand. As I approach, she suddenly approaches what appears to be the climax in the story, when her cigarette slips out between her fingers and flies in my direction.

Towards my right eye.

Good old reflexes catch up. I weave my head to the side while my hand catches the flying butt right in the palm, and puts it out. Between the adrenaline rush and the suddenness of my own reaction, there is no pain.

I'd gotten a cigarette burn before. Once, I had a very heated discussion with a smoker, took the lit cigarette and put it out in my upper palm so the attention would be on my words instead of a cancerstick. It hurt, it burned for days, and my skin eventually healed.

When I open up my hand, I see the butt is well and truly squashed. I brush the ash aside to inspect what I figure is a burn wound right in the middle of my palm, which I don't feel yet but probably will in a few.

Nothing. Not even a black spot. Hell, not even a BROWN spot.

My coworkers rush to see if I'm okay, and to dismiss their concerns, I tell them the cinder must have caught in an empty space when I clenched my hand. My colleague profusely apologizes, but I tell her not to worry about it.

Ok, this I got! Its a really sweet magicians trick. Not sure how he does it exactly, but he would put out a lit cig in a T shirt without putting so much as a mark on it. I think it has something to do with generating a vacuum to put out the fire?

Roughly half of the reactions I get are approval.  The other half are people thinking I'm pretentious.  Win some, lose some.

It's a nice style, though a bit 4th doctor(possibly 3 when your much older), still I have to approve.

I'm not Caucasian. I am German, Irish, and Scottish. I have no ancestors traceable to the Caucasus. Therefore, I prefer the term "white".

I only throw out this comment because people should know how subtly racist it is to link a person to a place based on their skin color. A black girl from my high school finds the term "African-American" very offensive because all of her family comes from Jamaica or Haiti, peoples with rich and vibrant cultures quite separate from the stereotypical African ones.

K, will try to remember that, and that is legitimate reasoning. Sorry.
