"Dalanath, Thespias, I am going to purchase a boat for Jacopo's funeral rite. I do not know in what way you wish to attend to our other comrades, but in my bones I know that this is how I must see to my friend. You may come with me, or I will come find you at the temple once my business is concluded."

The northerner travels to the docks and approaches one of the Halflings who seems to have what he needs, a somber expression written upon his face.

"Good day to you. I have need of a small boat so that I may lay my fallen friend to rest in the proper Northern fashion. I would like to purchase one of your's, perhaps your oldest, most worn one, as the purpose will be finished in not much time."

"I will go with you. It would be his will to be sent of in this way, I shall honour that will"

The halfling goes with his companion to the dockside, staying silent on the way there.
He fills in his companions request with a few words of his own:

"Though we would appreciate it if it was still in working order. It's a matter of respect, as I'm sure you understand, one would not send ones friends and family on a journey in a boat in too poor condition and neither would we for the journey of his soul.
At the same time, we naturally understand that you cannot sell any boat in pristine condition, as you need it for your trade. Do you think you can part with one of these boats for a reasonable sum?"

Dalanath nods and joins his companions.  A traditional burial does not seem like it will be able to happen, and no matter what happens to his body Rothgar is already with his god.  "Rothgar never objected to your traditions, it will be good to see him properly taken care of.  Also, it is better that we do this than to trust in a stranger to put my brother to rest."

Following his friends to the dockside Dalanath remains quiet, and remains so as they speak with the Halfling.

You approach a group of the halflings boatmen. Two break off and greet you. One has slicked back hair and the other an eye patch over one eye. "Aye, I think we have something that'll suit your purposes. Got a couple boats a few of them goblins poked a few holes in before we drowned them in the river." this brings a gaped tooth grin from the halfling next to him. "I'll let one go for 5 gold, an we'll even repair it up enough so it's not taking on too much water."

"That sounds fair, though I would see the boat before we complete our deal."

The halflings return to their group and gibber in the river dialect of Hin speech. They retrieve a boat, drag it up on shore, let it drain and set about repairing the damage. Soon after it is ready for you to inspect.

Dalanath looks to Dunor, unsure of what to do.

Dunor looks the boat over. It only needed to be big enough, not fancy, and it didn't need to float for long. Still there were a few details to consider when seaworthy vessels were concerned. That much Dunor could certainly recall.

The Halflings did their work well. The boat will hold all three with plenty of room to spare and water tight enough to last a longer than you intend for it.

From further up the road you see newest acquaintances approaching following a limping man with a cane.
